>BTW, of the F1 sims, I'd say OF1RS is the closest in capturing the sound.

But is the game any good (better than F1RS?MGPRS2? I thought
the driving model (turning about the center of the chassis instead
of with the front tires) sucked. I saw the game for only $29 and would
like to get it, but I don't want to waste my time on CRAP. Which is
how I felt the demo worked...

Do you have a FF wheel yet?

I visited quite a few GP's when I was very young, but the first time I
heard a modern F1 engine at full song was at Silverstone last year. For
Saturday practice we stood at Copse, right next to the track on the
outside, opposite the apex. It was something I'll never forget :-)

Good as it is at a modern GP circuit, you aint lived till you have stood 3
feet away from a F1 car at Goodwood when one starts breathing into life in
the paddock :-)

Indelible ink forever

All this makes me wonder a bit - a few years ago with N1 and early on
with N2 I had a 200 watt amp and 15" bass reflex 3-way spkrs attached
to my PC, and outside the house it sounded a lot like a Nascar race.
If the audio samples in GPL are anywhere near as good as the real
thing, with a modern audio system (more than SBLive with a 20 watt amp
and bookshelf speakers) we ought to be able to recreate '67 F1 sounds
to some extent.
Of course, not too many of the samples available for GPL are
actual '67 vintage.  I wonder if Bruce Kennewell has any that could be
plugged into GPL, perhaps with some editing.
