Yeah, but in the name of diversity, let's appreciate Sweeney for being
the one and only prissy-***on RASN.

Not any more...

Microsoft, our pal, made it known this week that NT-Consumer has been
delayed 2-3 YEARS, and that there will indeed be at least one, maybe
two, other Win9x releases...

And if NT2K Pro and Server actually ship in 1999, in a stable form, I'll
eat a fully populated retail box version of it.

MacOS-X is sounding better every day.

Where did you hear that?  Certainly not the scoop in the main press.

According to an Information Week email I got JUST TODAY, there will be
NO further "Win9x"-kernel based version of their consumer OS.  The next
VERSION (there will be 2 patches) will be Win2000 (NT) based and should
follow approx. 6 months after release of Windows 2000.

This is true.  Got the same story from Jesse Berst's Anchordesk on ZDNet.
The next Win9x release will NOT be NT kernel based.  :(

Here's the link.

Could be true, but, lord knows you can't believe half of what Berst has to
say!

Trolls notwithstanding, I found that the joystick needs to be
calibrated, in the game, *first*.  Before that was done, I was unable
to use my Y axis for acceleration, and the car had no steering.  After
calibration, all is OK.

NR1999 is nice.  Only thing I hate is missing the rebate. :(  (But I
only paid $30, not so bad.)  I got the game (being an N1 user) on the
rebate offer and because the car handling is supposedly better than
N2;  is that true?  I do notice my car doesn't get away from me
leaving the pits at C***te anymore. :)

Take care,

Dave
