IWCCCARS: We need your opinions!

Everyone --

With the new Hawaii service up, I've been considering an idea I've
had.  We've all seen the Multicar car sets offered on the server.  I
don't know about you, but after racing CARS96 for so long I am
hesitant to want to give up that extra bit of realism.

I've been thinking that we here at IWCCCARS could work on getting one
of our sets converted for use with the Multiplayer network.  Since I'm
not sure if CARS96 would be kosher (Ed, you'd have to field that one)
I was thinking of converting IROC96 (currently in production) into a
multiplayer car set.  I figure the True Value logo is licensed by
Papyrus already so that obstacle would be hurdled.  Plus it'd give us
all a chance to race cars that you might actually see on track.

Keep in mind that all our car sets are usable on Hawaii -- it's just
that the drivers2.txt differences make for confusing races.  For
example: I'm running CARS96 and got the #10 Tide Ford in the lineup.
Someone else is using MULTICAR, and he wants to draft.  So he says,
"Lets hook up, #14" or something, and I have no idea if he means me or
not.

I would like to hear your comments, especially from the Papyrus end of
things (official and unofficial opinions).  Naturally we'll go with
the flow with whatever you all want.  We're pretty easy that way! :-)

Thanks,
Tony and the Team

Yeah if we could get some sort of real carset it would be a little more
fun

tony I think it would be a great idea because the multi carset is terrible. I thought I saw something from ED
that stated there were copyright issues since this is probably not covered by the nascar game license. They
probably have to secure the rights all over again for this "new" product.

[snip]

What Papyrus does not know will not hurt them.  Can't you use any
carset you want, just as long as the numbers match up with the
multicar set?

Have a nice day,

Let's keep in mind frame rates and the added visability that the multi or
mpcar2 carset gives us. While I really like the paint job on Rusty's car this
year, I'm not so sure I want to run against it in a night time C***te :)

The multicar carset is nice but the mpcar2 set has improved in several areas.
They are compatible w/ on another so if I'm using mpcar2 and you're using multi
the numbers match, the colors however don't The mpcar2 doesn't have any gray or
dark cars.

with:

I was speaking of making a "Hawaii-official" standard car set; you
are, of course, correct in that any car set will work.
