New IWCCCARS.ZIP available!

by Tony Joh » Fri, 02 Jun 1995 04:00:00

A revised IWCCCARS is now available at its new location.  A few things have
been changed -- the .DAT file is now named IWCCCARS.DAT instead of NEWCARS.DAT
to avoid installation confusion.  Additionally, the DRIVERS2.TXT file has been
modified and the .DAT file sorted so that drivers like Bill Elliott now
qualify on the short tracks.  The AI has been tweaked and increased thanks to
some suggestions from IWCCCARS users.

Some of the paint changes:

New player car with new roof flaps, fueling port, overflow port
#1 Mast -- shaded quarterpanels
#6 Martin -- Cummins sponsorship added
#9 Speed -- New larger logo on hood, yellow spoiler
#12 Cope -- More accurate paint hues on air dam and lower skirt, rear end
#24 Gordon -- Brighter orange paint
#37 Andretti -- New purple/orange paint scheme
#41 Craven -- New white numbers and orange stripe on rear bumper
#87 Nemechek -- Red highlights on hood continuous with body stripe
#90 Wallace -- White numbers (new as of C***te)

Here is the readme.1st file for the cars (NOTE: WWW URL may not be active as

IWCCCARS.ZIP INSTALLATION README.1ST FILE

This car set is constantly updated to reflect current Winston Cup sponsors
and drivers.  If you do not see your favorite driver here, don't blame me -
there is a finite amount of cars I can put in the set.  Keep checking
the FTP site to find the latest update on this car set.

TO GET IWCCCARS:

If you use Netscape or Mosaic, you can go to the IWCC home page and click
on the link to the file.  The URL is:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~iwcc/iwcccars.html

If for some reason that does not work for you, you'll need to FTP to the
following site:

ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/users/i/iwcc/iwcccars/

For the Internet-impaired, this translates to the following set of Unix
shell commands:

% ftp ftp.xmission.com
Connected to FTP.XMISSION.COM blah blah blah
login: anonymous
Guest login okay, send e-mail as password.
Password: <your e-mail address>
ftp> type binary (( THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!! ))
Type set to I.
ftp> cd pub/users/i/iwcc/iwcccars
CWD command successful.
ftp> get iwcccars.zip
Transfer successful.
ftp> quit

...It won't be the same for everyone, but that should get you through the
initial headache of getting the file.  You must then download the file to
your home PC, which I can't help you with much.

TO INSTALL IWCCCARS:

a) Unzip this .ZIP file into a subdirectory off of your NASCAR\CARS\ tree.
   e.g. C:\NASCAR\CARS\> md IWCCCARS
        C:\NASCAR\CARS\> cd IWCCCARS
        C:\NASCAR\CARS\IWCCCARS\> pkunzip <location of file>\iwcccars.zip

b) Enter NASCAR Racing
c) Go to Car Sets, select IWCCCARS
d) You're set!  Alter your driver car's paint using the paint kit if you
   wish.
