GPL Online Discos

I've been racing GPL online for years and never had this problem before. I
raced online one night for hours and no problems. The next night I could not
complete a race because I kept getting disco'd. I got all the patches, check
my connections (cable modem) and everything seems fine. I hadn't installed
anything new from that one night to the other.

Any ideas?

I'm using a 3com cable modem that is about 2 1/2 years old. Do they go bad?
Are the newer modems better?

Thanks for the help,

Chris G.

I think I have the same modem.  It's been 'on' for most of the last two
+ years 24/7.  Yes they can go bad, yes the powerbricks can fail.  But if
they did you would be seeing that when you surfed, when you dload, all the
time really.
The advantage of newer models is they can supposedly upgrade the
firmware online at anytime.  The older models that came out BEFORE the
Docsis protocol most likely are just different enough to not accept that
kind of upgrade.
I guess the biggest question is...when you say you have all the GPL
patches...do you have the DISCO fix?  (it was available separately, but I
think they rolled it into the D3d patch)  That might be your problem...or
you ISP could be having lousy throughput at the present time.
