HEAT- CART Addon Problems

Sorry you're having problems -- here are a few things to try:

1) MAKE SURE you used the installation option to "run NASCAR Heat from
the hard drive" -- this is a "full installation."  If you did a
partial installation (that is, if you're running the game from the
CD-ROM), you'll NEVER get the IRL Heat mod to work.

2) MAKE SURE you have the 1.3 patch installed -- you can get this from
the High-Compression site (http://hc.letsgoracin.net/thesite/).

3) Make sure the "irl.car" file is in the "...\NASCAR Heat\Data"
folder.

4) Make sure the "drivers.txt" file is in the "...\NASCAR Heat"
directory.

5) Make sure the *.tex files from the paint fix are all in the
"...\NASCAR Heat" directory.

6) Make sure the "options.cfg" file is in the "...\NASCAR Heat"
directory -- if it's in the "...\NASCAR Heat\Data" folder, MOVE it to
the "...\NASCAR Heat" directory.

7) Make sure you don't have another "options.cfg" file for NASCAR Heat
someplace else -- do you have NASCAR Heat installed to the default C:\
drive location ("C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\NASCAR Heat")?
If you have the game installed to the D:\ drive, then you ALSO have a
few NASCAR Heat files in the default C:\ drive location -- in this
case (that is, IF and ONLY if you have NASCAR Heat installed someplace
other than the default C:\ drive location), then you need to delete
any copies of the "drivers.txt" and "options.cfg" files that exist on
the C:\ drive (DO NOT delete the NASCAR Heat directory on the C:\
drive location, though -- JUST the "drivers.txt" and "options.cfg"
files).

Give these things a try and let me know if it helps.

HEAT- CART Addon Problems

John and Group,

THAT WORKED !!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't have the latest 1.3 patch and that must have helped
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in the process of converting my home *** machine from a 10 gig HD to
a 30 gig HD. On the other hand,  I may  move it to my office (I'm self
employed) to replace my Dell 200mhz system.

Nevertheless,  how many of you run dedicated versions of Heat Nascar and
Heat Cart set up on their computers ?????

THANKS AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

HEAT- CART Addon Problems

Glad that did the trick, Tim!

As for dedicated installations of NASCAR Heat, let me just say that
this will NOT be necessary once the patch is finalized (or the next
"beta" patch gets released).  MGI is basically bending over backwards
to make NASCAR Heat mod-friendly, and with the newest patch, NASCAR
Heat will include a "Mod" folder -- if you run NASCAR Heat with the
proper command-line switch (like the way you could run Viper Racing
without the CD using the "-no canary" switch), NASCAR Heat will look
in the specified "Mod" folder (for example, "...\NASCAR
Heat\Mods\CART") for the proper mod files.  This means you can run ANY
and ALL the mods using a single installation of NASCAR Heat, and you
can switch modes easily by creating separate desktop shortcut icons
for each mod.

Pretty slick, eh?  <G>

BTW, thanks to Steve Blankenship, the physics for the CART and IRL
efforts have improved DRAMATICALLY!  Steve's easily exceeded what
Thomas and I did previously with the physics -- you guys are going to
be blown away!

;-)
