Nascar 4 - Anyone else having these problems?

by TMrsho » Mon, 16 Apr 2001 23:05:56

Just got NASCAR 4 but I'm having some difficulties...

The first one is actually starting the game. When I double-click the icon
the CD spins the hard disk light flickers then nothing (or else sometimes
I get a blue screen crash). Funny thing is that if I reboot and keep on
double-clicking it for a number of times it runs eventually....?!

When I do finally get the game to run, I have another problem. In Testing
mode I find that I get a lot of jerkiness/pausing although the frame
counter is giving me 40-50fps! Strange thing is I can hardly notice this
when running a full race with 40 other cars...

Anyone have any ideas?

My System:-

Pentium III 733Mhz
Voodoo 3 AGP
256Meg RAM

Here's a good N4 Site for your question:

I am having a (slight) problem with graphics in Nascar 4.  If I am doing
practice, the sponsor logos on my car look sharp and clear, but if I am
competing in a race weekend, they look much worse.  I am getting between 40
and 105 fps with the game, depending on what is in shot.

I have an Athlon 800, 384Mb RAM, GeForce 2 32Mb GTS.

You can get a no cd crack at www.gamecopyworld.com.  Then you won't need the
CD to play the game and thus should fix your cd reading problems.

Make sure you have no other programs running in the background like virus
checkers, mother monitors, etc.  Good luck.

You have to adjust your OpenGL settings if you want the clearer graphics
with a full field (more graphics for the card to draw and therefore it
reduced the quality)--but you will take a performance hit to get it.

Marc.

True.  But at least he can play and that would pretty much confirm that the
problem is either with the CD drive or the disc itself as opposed to
something being wrong with his system.

I experienced the exact same problem on a machine with the CIH virus.  I
removed the virus and everything works fine now....
