I got thinking about that and here is what my grape sized brain came
up with..
3dfx did the patch right???   It is supposedly done completely right???
why is Sierra waiting??  Tech support...Red Baron II and the other Xmas
releases are generating lots of tech support calls.  I'm betting Sierra
is holding the patch a few weeks to let the after Xmas rush die down.
make sense??

Sierra should get something right the first time and maybe they won't get
flooded with tech support calls I think they want a few more people to buy
their Screamin 3D card before they allow the people to have what they really
want.

Right.

Nope.  Everybody knows that Sierra's tech support bites.  They're
probably creating a "TEN-enabled" version and they probably won't release
the offline version until that particular task is done.

Just curious. Is the Sierra Screamin 3D card any good? I know of a
local store that still has one for sale.

Good choice? Waste of money? Voodoo/Voodoo Rush are better?

It was a good card, but it just can't keep up with the Voodoo and the
2nd generation Rendition cards like the under $100 Diamond StealthII.

I bought one back in early summer solely for NASCAR2/ICR2.  For that reason
alone, it was worth it's purchase price to me.  Verite support in most other
games seems to come strictly via D3D which, so far at least, can't compare
with Glide.  Heavy Gear is the only title I've seen where I thought the
Rredline/Rendition version looked better than the Glide/Voodoo.  (And that
was only until the patch.)
Although I haven't had any trouble with the Screamin' 3d, and have been
mostly satisfied with its 2d performance, I have to say that the only thing
I've ever used it in 3d with was N2 and ICR2.  I'd have to say buying it
right now with a 3dfx patch for N2 right around the corner would be a
complete waste of money.

>sorry folks, I've been outta town for a while.  The last news I read
>is there was supposed to be an announcement on 12/22/97 about a 3Dfx patch
>for N2.  I cannot find any evidence to support this.  Can anyone
>update me?

There was an announcement, but it was bogus, the promised information
(i.e., a release date) was not provided. "Early 98" they said, which
can mean just about anything of course.
