PCI PDPI L4???

by Tony Jeste » Mon, 03 Sep 2001 00:33:07

What ever happened to PDPI?  Will there ever be a PCI version?  I want
to upgrade but I don't want to give up my L4.  And I hate the idea of
upgrading to an outdated mobo just to get an ISA slot.  What should I
do, give up the L4 and get an AMD 761 mobo like the Abit KG-7, or keep
the L4 and get an older KT133A?  Thanks.

PCI PDPI L4???

PDPI is gone and there will be no PCI version.  They were trying to sell
hardware developers a new gameport chipset that would offer the benefits of
the L4 but in a low cost package.  Apparently no one took them up on the
offer.  I don't think there's a real solution at the moment other than
purchasing USB equipment.

Tony,

Yer screwed.  PDPI has been TU for a year or more.  The best thing to do is
get a PCI-only mobo, a SBL!, and use either its game port or a USB port
(controlled by the card).  I still keep my PDPI for an ECCI wheel hooked up
to a K7-900, but it's for GPL only.  Someday I'm gonna haveta give it up for
a digital wheel, but not until my last set of springs & pots give out....
