NASCAR2 video problems- ATI mach64, Sony P200

by Logan » Sun, 05 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I have a Sony Pentium 200, and it has a ATI mach64 PCI (macxw4)
(DirectDraw) video card. I've got 48 meg RAM.

NASCAR2 will show the intro videos jsut fine, but when the main menu comes
on, the picture seems to be split apart in to 4 pieces, and jitters
uncontrollably when I move the mouse. I've painfully navigated all the way
to a race, but it never clears up.

Anybody know what to do? Papyrus seems content to tell me they are
overloaded with tech support requests, and let it go at that. I bet they
are! I, for one, remember ICR2.

m64vbe.com

I had a similar problem when I had a Baby AT Advanced motherboard with
ATI Mach 64 attached.  I never managed to solve the problem, I just
booted into dos.  It ran fine.  I now have a dual 133MHZ pentium and a
Screamin' 3D Accelerator and it runs fine now.  It may be a problem with
ATI.  You may wanna try downloading VESA 2.0 drivers.  Scitech Display
Doctor has a trial for 21 days of use.  I think it is version 5.2.

Hope this helps,

What's the point of a dual CPU system if your OS (Win95) doesn't take
advantage of it?  Do you have another video card to swap out and dual
boot to NT or a version of UNIX?

Do not use the univbe that came with the game.  Go to
http://www.atitech.ca and download the latest m64vbe (vesa driver).
Use ATI's vesa driver with the following command:
m64vbe.COM acc -4

While you are at the ati web site, make sure you have the latest Win95
drivers.
