V4 wheel setup with GP3

by Dave S » Tue, 02 Jan 2001 13:52:58

I cannot get my V4 wheel to work correctly with GP3...I want to be able to
use the gear shift levers for shifting, but for some reason the game always
maps the "A" button on the wheel spoke...it does upshift and down...
Any ideas ??

Yea., get a better wheel...but the price was right...$40....

Was using a V4 here without problems.  Do you have GP3 patched?  If
not, do so.  This will open up the number of buttons to include 13 and
14 (I think) for the shifter paddles.  Also, are you running that
manager thing that came with the wheel, where you can program the
wheel for the games?  If so, turn that thing off forever.  It's a
memory hog and totally useless.

If you are using a warez version that cannot be patched, or are just
unmotivated, you can get ps-joy to map the paddles to the shift
buttons (I think shift and control??)

BTW, there is nothing wrong with that wheel.  I heard endless crying
about it, but that was after I bought it.  Supposed to be so hard to
control, so mushy, etc.  Well, I finally got paranoid enough to go out
and buy a LWFF from JustDeals, and while I like the wheel, it is not
that much better than the V4.  I've driven the V4 enough to wear out
the pots in the pedals, and I still pull it out from time to time.
The LWFF gets the work because it's USB.
