Interact V4 FF Wheel problem

by Crai » Mon, 03 May 1999 04:00:00

I just got a v4 FF wheel, but I'm having problems with the calibration of the
pedals.  It seems like it doesn't recognize my brake pedal.  The crosshair
in the 'properties' setup in Directinput is toward the bottom of the box.
This causes the game to believe that the gas pedal is the only device
controlling acceleration and braking.  When I play a game the game responds as
if the brake is already on without me touching anything.  The gas pedal will
work, but can't accel. as fast as possible because it is without the
conteracting force of the brake calibration.  I called Interact and they said
it probably is a hardware problem, but I was wondering if anyone has
experienced this and could help me.  Thank you in advance.

Ummm, check the cable connector that goes from the pedal assy to the
wheel assy, and make sure that there are no bent/broken pins.  Also
look to see if one of the pins is pushed back into the connector and
not extending out the same length.
Otherwise, take it back for a replacement.  You could***around
with reinstalling the software and recal'ling the wheel and pedals,
but I would bet you got a bum one.

Interact V4 FF Wheel problem

Hi,

This is only my personal opinion, but I would seriously recommend
returning the Interact V4, and spending a little more for a much
better wheel. (eg, Microsoft, Logitech, Act Labs)

The V4 is the absolute worst FF wheel that I have tried, and the lower
price is simply not worth the lower quality in this case.  I suggest
getting one of the others, and you should be much happier with your
purchase -- even if it costs just a bit more.

IMHO, YMMV, AFAIK, etc.

Good luck!

Brett
