Actually, I suppose we motorsport fans are quite lucky. Look at
football: Bolton Wanderers' ground is "The Reebok Stadium", and has
been from the start - there's never been a non-sponsored name for it at
all. And one of the Welsh teams rejoices in the name "Total Network
Solutions FC". Gets the juices flowing, eh?

On the other hand, how many cricket fans say "The Foster's Oval"?
Somewhere between none and none[sic], I'd say.

Let us allow Americans name their tracks and races with sponsor names!
I guess it belongs to their culture. Why not a "Mickey Mouse Oval",
"Mac Donald's Championship", "Road Coca Cola"? If the races are good,
who cares of the names? But let them NEVER EVER name Monaco "Chanel Tube",
let them NEVER call Monza "Ring Armani", let them NEVER call Hockenheim
"Agfa Racing Circuit"...

If they some day create an F1 track here in Finland, which I doubt,
I sincerely hope, it will NOT be called "Nokia Ringing"!  ;-)

PS: Rolex Daytona is a wonderful GPL track! No harm to me from "Rolex"! ;)

>> Actually, the U.S. has TWO tracks that are sponsor-named:

>> 1. C***te Motor Speedway is now Lowe's Motor Speedway at C***te.
>> Lowe's is a damn home-improvement store.

>> 2. Laguna Seca Raceway is now the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. I'm sure we

Why the :( ?  The US of A is a capitalist union.  What do people think
that means?

Yes, corporations run the country.  And thank God it's not small
business or we would be lucky to have 400 baud modems right now (and
pay $50 a month for the line).

To further confuse you all.  I beleive the track is offically known as
Daytona International Speedway.  But the 24 sportscar race is known as:
The Rolex 24hours at Daytona.   And this is a part of the Grand Am racing
series...partially owned by Nascar and the series recently signed a
sponsorship deal so  that the official name is the Rolex Sports Car Series
of the Grand American Racing Association.
Do we Yanks have a way with words or what???

Because many people, myself definitely included, are sick of having
corporate adverti***ts everywhere you look.  Once upon a time, it was
thought of as an HONOR to have a building or what-have-you named in your
behalf.  Nowadays they (corporations)act as though it's some God-Given
Right to BUY such things.  We'd also be a lot better off without them.
You get nothing, lest they also profit.  And they will profit more than
you.  Qualifies as a leech upon society to me.

C***te Motor Speedway forever.  Screw Lowes.

Nothing to be proud of.  Read your history books & also look around
you.  Let's say that many of those who are of Native American descent,
(I'm 15%, my wife is about 80%), view this not as a government but as an
occupation force.

Flatout BullShit.  If not for the perceived threat of Government
intervention, corporations would*** you many times worse than this!

Yeah, I'm Native American too, I was born in Baltimore.  As a matter of fact,
about one third of the people on the planet are Native American.

Didn't 'Native Americans' walk here from China??
Didn't 'non native Americans' sail here?  Seems to me there are no real
'natives'  just those folks who got here earlier than others.  And yes they
were treated very badly by the later arriving waves of people.

Correct on all counts Dave.  The Europeans didn't "discover" America,
they just got lost & stumbled upon it.  And then invaded it.  :-)

Um, that would be 2 billion. One third of the people on the planet are
Indian (i.e. from India) or Chinese. Native Americans (however you define
it) are half a billion at the outside.
