GP2 and Univbe. Any good?

by Robe » Wed, 14 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Hi all,

I have a Pentium 166, 32 MB RAM, Matrox Millenium. Is there an advantage
in using Univbe? Will it increase the frame rate?

Thanks,

Ricardo

I use SDD 5.2 (Univbe 5.2) for Janes Longbow, MSFS 5.1, NASCAR, etc
and it helps all of them. However, I have to disable it to run GP2 or
it scrambles the screen. It might be my fault, but since it works so
well with every other DOS and Win95 application I use, I am assigning
blame to SDD. Maybe you'll have better luck than I have.

SDD 5.2 works fine for me when using it with GP2. I dont know if it
makes a difference because I always have it on. The only game I've had
problems with was EF2000 and I had to disable 5.2 before it was ok.

If your Millennium's BIOS is up to date, you won't see any improvement in
any games by using UniVBE.  I had seen improvements in some games with UniVBE,
but after I upgraded the BIOS (to 2.0 from 1.5) and did some comparisons, I found
there was no longer an advantage to running it.
