Rally Trophy Editor Now Released

by Schum » Fri, 11 Jan 2002 14:42:32

Fredizzimo has just released version 1 of the Rally Trophy BZF Editor, that
allows you to edit/etc. things like car skins, sounds, etc.

Physics altering was left out on purpose (since gamespy cannot detect
cheats) in the best interests of the community to avoid any of the
Cheater-Birds from popping their heads out in the online side of things.

This editor also marks a giant leap in logistics for distribution. Together
with Relay, Fredizzimo has designed an export function (called Export
Package) that allows the mod creators to only include the files that are
needed/changed to be packaged into a single file ready for distribution.
When the end-user open this file with the editor (soon you will only need to
double click the package file itself), the user simply imports the package
file, and the changes will be made instantly. This accomplishes 2 distinct
advantages over current editors/distribution methods:

1. the file size of the add-on can now be streamlined in size since it only
includes the necessary/expected files. This should minimize download times.

2. Maintains end-user's existing alterations without overwriting them (as is
the case when mod-creators simply distribute a complete game-file... which
as we all know is a big time beaatch)

All of this is done quickly, efficiently, and require very little knowledge
or reading.

The editor can be downloaded at: http://www.racesimcentral.net/ in the Editors
Section of Downloads.

Hopefully we can see some new (and hopefully historically correct) skins for
the cars.

More is on the way from Fred and Relay on this game, so keep your eyes glued
to the site for more info.

Cheers,
Schumi
