You probably would get in big trouble if you made that
track... Tony George's lawyer's would be knocking on
your door within hours of your posting it...

Now, maybe someone should make the no-longer-in-
existance-track that was called Ontario Motor Speedway... :-)

CPR Track Editor Is Released!

After a quick look at this thing, all I can say is "wow"...

I haven't played around with it enough to say if that's
a good "wow" or a bad "wow"... right now, let's just
leave it at "wow"....

It looks very complex and very powerful. It also appears
to be very difficult to use - not your basic end user
program, but more like a developer's tool. Not every
Tom,***, and and Harry on the internet is going to
be able to use this thing to make a track. I suppose
that's a good thing... it looks like it will take real talent
to make a decent track. I suppose that's a bad thing
(for me anyway - I don't know if I've got that kind of
talent!)

It's worth noting that this is not just a track editor program.
The program will also let you set various graphics and
sound options (though the sound option menu doesn't
seem to work on my machine).

It also looks like it will be possible to modify car and
driver pictures (we may be able to get rid of Carl Haas
once and for all!). Should be interesting to see just what
the folks here can do to improve CPR... Maybe it's all
part of the Microsoft *** - first, they trick us into
paying them to be their beta testers, now they are being
very generous and giving us the tools to develop the thing
for them! :-)  :-)

Like I said - wow... it will be very interesting to see what
shows up in the next few months...

Just my 2 cents' worth of opinions on 1 cent's worth of
examining the editor...

- Mike.

You got it in one. It is the developers tool! First good thing I have
to say about CPR. I doubt the average user will ever come to grips with
it by the sounds of things but if this is the beginning of a trend for
sim developers then it may be the best thing to come out of CPR. If
there is ever a CPR 2 and MS get that right and follow it up with a
fully end user usable editor then this could really hot up things in the
competition between developers. Not to mention how happy I would be to
see so many of these arseholes that demand licensing fees for their?
tracks end up with nothing :)
