N2: Now COM3 & COM4 support!!

All,

I just got a copy of Nacar 2 today at CompUSA.  I was returning a set of
speakers for my Company and they were loading the shelf with about 20
copies..  Anyways...

I loaded the game and messed arounda bit.  I then wanted to call my
friend and play him.  I went into MODEM setup and no COM3 or COM4
options are available!!  How am I supposed to play this thing?
with my setup switching the modem to COM1 or 2 is not an option...

Any ideas?

N2: Now COM3 & COM4 support!!

I just purchased a internal 33.6 modem and had the same problem.  My
computer came with 2 serial ports, but they had the old 16450 UART's.  I
had to run my setup utility in dos (CTRL+ALT+S) and change my second
serial port to COM4.
Then I setup the modem to use COM4 and IRQ7.  I did this for Nascar1
(v1.21) so I dont know if it will work in N2.  Dont know if that'll help
you or not.

I was cautioned by both Dell and US Robotics about using an internal
modem on COM4.  It appears this will cause memory conflicts with your
video if you video card uses the S3 chipset.

Strange, I have mine setup for COM3, IRQ5. Does your BIOS recognize that
you have a COM3 or COM4?

OK, now I am confused.  I blew away N2 on my Work PC and brought
it home.  I installed it on my home PC and it now sees the card
as COM4.  What's up?  Is just the way the Machines BIOS sees the
internal card?

YES, I couldn't wait to get the game home, so I put it on my work PC
so I could check it out all day instead of getting my work done! :)
