If you can live without the 16 bit tracks, you can use the indycar patch
for cyrix users to get the 3d enhancement.  It is availiable at:
ftp://ftp.sierra.com/pub/patches/sports-sim/
under the file name icr2rend.exe

Download this file and copy the speedy3d.uc file found in any rendition
game to your icr2 directory.  Wallah! enhanced icr2 on a creative 3d
blaster.

Where to get ICR2-3D ???

by Harald Boer » Tue, 13 May 1997 04:00:00

Ok, I have this problem,

In the Netherlands, the only available Rendition-card is the one of
Creative Labs,
as I know they don't have ICR2-3D in a bundle, so I would like to know if
ICR2-3D
is anywhere else available.

I know that another option is to order a Rendition-card at SIERRA directly
at their Website with a credit card, but I prefer to buy a Videocard at my
local computerstore.

Thanks,

Harald

If you already own ICR2, there is a means to get most of the 3D bundle
(minus the 5 "enhanced" tracks).  There is a patch available to allow
Non-Pentium computers to run the DMA version of ICR2.  Just grab it and
copy it over your INDYCAR.EXE file.  Here's the URL:

Happy racing!

The speeds from the bundled vs. the patched version seem to be identical.
As for enhacements, the only possible solution for Creative owners is to
use 16-bit pcx files in the track directories.  The exe will "read" from
these
files first, provided the pcx dimensions match those of the MIP files in
the
dat.  I'm working on a document that gives the various dimensions for the
differing objects, and hope to have it on the TSP site soon.

Marc

: Too bad I can't use the enhanced tracks, but we will have to life with it.
: But now I have another simple question (just to be sure): Will this allow
: me to run ICR2 with the same speed on the creative labs card as it does
: on the other redention cards?

I forgot an important piece to the puzzle (but thankfully others
mentioned it):
. . . . . . . . .  and copy the speedy3d.uc file found in any rendition
game to your icr2 directory.  Wallah! enhanced icr2 on a creative 3d

The answer is yes!  This should allow you to run it as fast as any of the
Rendition cards.
: Thank you.

Thanks for all the info on the updated tracks etc., but wasn't ICR2-3D more
than just
enhanced tracks? I thought that the***pit was also bit different and I
remember
pictures on SRN where there were clouds.
Am I right?

Cheers,

Harald
