Hi Dave,

Sorry, but you have been misinformed.
NASCAR does not require teams to qualify with a full tank of gas, but the
weight of the car prior to qualifying must be the same as if the car was
loaded with a full tank of gas. If teams elect not to use a full tank, they
must add weight to the car (usually lead weights) to maintain the proper
overall minimum weight of the car.

Depends on the track. At Atlanta, Watkins Glen, and Vegas (for instance), they
get a single lap. At Daytona or Talladega (again, examples), they get two.

Nope. You can't lower the fuel level.

Alright,  you guys....  I've mentioned this before and I guess I'll just
have to go say it again...don't confuse the issue with facts!!!!
:)
So lets just say the car must weigh that and without a method in
today's sims to adjust the weigts, then we must 'accept' the full fuel
tank as the best possible compromise...

N4 Qualifying Questions

I'm new to N4, trying it as a change from GPL. I'm finding it quite hard
to qualify in the top 10 at 100% AI, but that's not surprising.
Hopefully I can find some good setups soon as I don't have the time for
setup tweaking.

A couple of questions though;

- Do the real NASCAR drivers only have one shot at one lap in
qualifying, with no chance to warm up the tyres?

- I can't seem to lower the fuel level for qualifying, have I missed
something?

Thanks,

- Michael

You get about 3/4ths of a lap to get heat in your tires..Good Luck :)
Nope..All Winston Cup cars qualify AND start a race will a full tank.
This is to
try and level the playing field for those teams with buckets of cash and
those with
wheelbarrows full.    If you want to work on light fuel load setups..i.e.
how your car
handles when less than full, you can only do that in testing...Some drivers
setup a car
so that full and heavy it is a wallowing pig...but their setup begins to
shine once some fuel
is burned off...this type of setup is best at tracks where long green
runs(i.e. no accidents)
are common..

Actually this is not correcct WC cars qualify with 5 gallons of gas in the
car, I also have learned recently that they measure the weight of the cars
to make Nascar rules of 3400 pounds before gas is added so this makes me
think they don't have to add weight to the cars after so little gas is added
since the car has to weight 3400 lbs before gas is added.

Cup cars have to weigh the minimum (3500lbs??) without respect to the driver
or fuel. If you notice, every winning car is immediately weighed without the
driver when a race ends.
