OT: Adelaide Clipsal 500 race - no spoiler

If anyone is interested or gets the coverage outside of Australia of these
two last days of racing, I'd seriously recommend watching the racing from
Saturday and Sunday.

No spoilers on who won or lost.......but from 1st to 19th or 20th, it was
just hammer and tong racing from go to stop. The 500 part is 500 kilometres
over two days.....being split into 2 x 250km races, each with one compulsory
pit stop. I can tell you (and the Australian commentators also remarked)
that the 2 endurance legs were being raced as if they were sprint races.
Changes for places 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 were as exciting as the ones occurring at
1, 2, 3 & 4 and some of the passing was as razor sharp as I've seen.

I am biased (being an Aussie) but I've seen a few guys talk about the V8
racing in here before I thought I might give it a mention. This (these)
races that has taken place over the weekend is a great adverti***t for the
competition and V8's in general.

Cheers

Hate to correct you, but there was 2 compulsory stops - 1 for fuel & 1 for
tyres.

ANd for those that did see the start of each race, they also got a preview
of what CODEMASTERS PS2 version of the Adelaide Track will be like... I can
only hope that the PC version is nowhere near as grainy as the images I
whatched...

Also hate to correct you, but apart from 2 laps of e***ment (or hammer &
thongs) - ala Lowndes & Bright & Tander I think on Sunday (which was good)
the rest was near processional boredom.

The support races were by far better.

Nope, I disagree, I think it was very entertaining.

If you consider a race to only be exciting if there is a huge battle
for the lead, then fair enough. Skaife ( and Bright) were very
***, but then again, when are they not ***???

But behind the two HRT cars, the action was pretty damn good, and
seeing Bright, Lowndes and Ambrose carving through the field was very
cool.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that that was one helluva stack by Jemma
(from BB)!!!

She really chose poorly there when she had the escape road to go down
when she outbroke herself and pranged the wall.

Clearly the best action that came out of anything related to BB.

I'll wager she'll be spending several weeks with the physio.

Cheers,
Rod.

Yeah, was a mighty thump she gave that tyre wall, looked pretty huge
from the onboard camera.

And it gave the fans what they want, everyone loves seeing a celebrity
stuff their car into the wall!!!

"Targanon"  wrote ...
It looked real bad. And the physics - looked like an image that might have
come from a speeded up bulldozer or tank lap. Up to corner, rotate abruptly;
no feel for gradual turn or slide.
Can't believe they showed it as an introductory lap of the Adelaide track.

But the real racing was bl**dy excellent. Friday and Saturday at the track
then a third day at home in front of box with AC and cold beer. Great track
with good access and a heap of competitive support races. Sigh - 12 more
months.

There's a newish channel on Sky digital in the UK that has been showing
highlights from the 2001 V8 series, I must say it takes me back to when UK
touring cars used to be damn exciting, I was gripped at some of the races,
very compelling stuff. Sadly touring cars over here now is a complete joke.
