New "force feedback" wheels

by sbarbou » Tue, 05 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Has anyone heard anything about the new force feedback wheels on the
market? I know that there's two major ones: Thrustmaster and ACT Labs.
Which one's better? When are they coming out? Is there going to be a
patch for any existing racing game for the force feedback experience?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Actually, there are two companies that I'm aware of that are
producing Force-Feedback steering wheels. One is ACT Labs. Looks like a
fantastic wheel with a "F1" rocker shifter and a lot of programable
buttons. Also, a nice *** overlay on the wheel and a new style of
device clamping. Thrustmaster is the other company. There wheel is to

Here are the URL's for Thrustamsters FF and ACT Labs FF wheels. Let
me know what you guys think! As a T2 owner I would like to "86" my T2 for
something newer!
I feel that the ACT wheel is the way to go. Its time for a change!

ACT Labs :  http://www.actlab.com/gamegear/controllers/racing/index.htm

Thrustmaster :  http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/prodrace.htm

BTW - CH Products also has a wheel which I'm going to if its outthere.
Smell ya later !

Thankfully Thrustmaster has taken care of that problem.  Wait until the
Nascar wheel is revealed and you'll see what I mean... =)

Cool. Can't wait. One more question: has anyone heard what kind of
warranty Thrustmaster will be offering on their FF wheel? It seems
these things might be more prone to breaking down than regular wheels,
I think it needs at least a 1-year warranty.

Lets see here.......

Thrustmaster is officially endorsed by NASCAR (the same NASCAR that's
endorsing EA Sports NASCAR 98 =P), while ACT Labs in endorsed by MIRacing,
(the same MIRacing that brought us the Enduro 24, World Endurance Series,
and more to come! :D), so I'll let you decide from there.

Counting the months until *** Interactive releases it's Professional
SportsCar game. (sim hopefully)

NASCAR:GO JEFF GORDON!!!!!!!!!!!!
CART: GO MAX PAPIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IRL: GO SCOTT SHARP!!!!!!!!!!
F1: GO TWR ARROWS!!!!!!!!!!

It's about F*&$ing time.  Atari's Hard Driving and Race Driving (arcade
games) have been the best driving simulators for 10 years  (they still
are).

How does anybody expect you to drive a race car with out any feed back
other than a sh&^y f#^$ing monitor.
