One question about the two versions of Nascar Racing - will the CD version
include the hi-res version ONLY, or will it contain the hi- and low-res
versions?

: Having had a brief go at the demo... the main feature I can see is it's
: smoothness- on a 66 with low detail it's VERY smooth indeed... I suspect
: that for max detail AND smoothness you're going to need more HP (computing
: that is)...
: The car in the NASCAR demo is actually controllable is itself controllable-
: so you can see how it handles....
: All in all, it looks pretty like INDYCAR but with less screen area (the rest
: being covered by dashboard and struts and stuff)..
: Smooth though...

My 66 had absolutely no problems running the demo with all detail on,
couldn't tell a frame rate drop at all.  Also, I also can not get the
joystick to work, has anyone been able to? if so, how?

My 486DX-33 with ISA bus video (1992 ATI Graphics Ultra) was barely capable.
With the graphics textures set to 'auto', the textures were generally off.
I forced the textures all on, and couldn't control the car well with the
keyboard.

The sound card setup gave me trouble.  Auto-detect found my pas-16, and the
program made horrible noises, spewed errors, and locked the PC.  I had to
resort to SB mono-8bit to get the sound to work.

P.S. I managed a second lap average speed of over 209mph.

According to Papyrus it will include both versions.

My joystick works fine with the Nascar demo. I just selected it from
the options/controls menu and calibrated it. I have an old CH Mach I+
plugged into a 8bit SB 1.5.

The CD-ROM will contain both versions, but I'm not sure if the diskettes will
carry the hi-res files.  You'll have to ask Papyrus about that.

I recieved the demo a week aga and have no problems running it on my 486/33 PC. Most
of the detail is on and it does seem real smooth. It seems the same as ICR at this time.
The joystick was very touchy compared to ICR. I hope they fix this problem before they
(Papyrus) releases the software.

You are driving a WC car with a huge down force of 350lbs.  as opposed to
an IndyCar with over 4000 lbs. of down force.  This steering will be alot
touchier.  If they change it, it will become a game not a simulation.
All the Amcerican reviews I have read strongly suggest a steering wheel
and foot pedals are the way to go wiht this simulation.
