(CPR) Try it for yourself

I purchased Cart Precision Racing Friday.  I was really apprehensive
because of all of the negative posts Ive read regarding the game. I
Installed the game two machines,  a Dell GXi  166 MHz  MMX and a home
made 200 MHZ MMX  (40mb ram Ati pc-to- tv).  The game required a little
tweaking of the settings (steering).   Once that was done the game
played great except for the occasional screen freeze the lasted just
long enough for me to miss my turning point!!    Im also not sure what
the + and  - keys are for.  When I press the keys it stretches or
shrinks the track.  I installed CPR on my other machine (200MHZ).  I had
a harder time getting the Game to work properly on that machine than I
did my other machine.  I guess that it would be impossible for any game
to work  perfectly right out of the box on thousands of different system
configurations.  My 200 mhz machine is clearly a faster machine that the
166, but CPR plays better on the 166.   I guess that may be an issue
between direct X and my video cards. Which video card would be the
perfect card for CPR?   The 200 MHZ machine Drops more Frames than the
166 MHZ Machine "Go figure".

Any one considering purchasing CPR should try it out for
themselves.   I tried the Demo and hated it.  The Full version is much
better.  My Friend Didnt like the game as much as I did.    He said he
expected more.    My grade; 3 out of 4.  The AI cars are far too
aggressive, the car needs to be a little more composed on the
straights,  The frame rate Definitely needs improvement and you cannot
see the track far enough ahead of your car. more of the track should be
displayed ahead of your car while you are driving.
Compared to GP2.  I would say GP2 is more refined but CPR is more
dynamic.  I felt a greater sensation of speed playing cart.  Just my

Hi Anthony...glad you like the game!

<snip>

<snip>

To see further ahead, press "ctrl F" This will increase the view distance
and you will be able to see farther.  To reduce it again, press "ctrl H".
The minimum setting (it will display at the bottom of your screen when you
change it) it 15, and I believe the max is something around 30.
Unfortunately, increasing the view distance will decrease your framerate.
You need to strike a balance with distance and framerate.  Fortunately for
us all, TRI is working on a patch for C:P.R., and it improves the
framerate, as well as tweaking the AI to make it more intelligent.

For info, setups, and other CART P.R. related stuff, head on over to The
Apex (best site in town) at

Happy holidays and happy racing!!
