Gravis gamepad in GP2 and ICR2

Okay, I've got a Gravis gamepad here, had it for years. Excellent in Doom
and other games, but not quite right for Indy or F1 racing sims.

Should I set it up with the "Analog" or "Switched/Digital" options? I have
it set to "switched" mode, because that seems to describe this thing best.
But in GP1, I've used this thing in Analog mode (because I didn't ever
notice that there was ever an option for analog vs. digital, until I
actually got GP2), and it worked pretty well.

Now I've set it for switched mode, and I get massive wheelspin and brake
lockups when I touch either of them. I used to get it in ICR1 as well, but
I didn't ever think it was because of this difference.

Maybe the simplest solution is to just set it to analog mode, and see how
it works, but I tend to usually want to get some technical opinion first
before I try something like this.
