Are you from that area?

Or just like them road courses?

I grew up in Riverside, but only went to the track once for an off-road
race.

Because you have an unrealistic belief that you can somehow convert
Riverside to be used with ICR2?

I have a feeling everyone's gonna be sorely disapppointed about the
backwards and lateral compatibility (or lack thereof) with the N3/NL
tracks.  It's probably gonna take a while before we can even make use of
the N3 tracks in NL, or vice versa.  Personally, I'd like to race
Riverside in N3.

<<So, again, how is Papyrus/Sierra getting around the exclusive agreement
that
GT Interactive has with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway?>>

MAYBE............since N3 has been in development for the last three
years, they liscensed it BEFORE GT Interactive signed its "exclusive" deal.
Besides that, anymore the way things are, "exclusive" can be a loose term.

Pocono used to be owned privately.  Don't quote me but I think it was
bought out by the same people that owns 90% of the other NASCAr tracks.
At least I remember something being talked about there.

"Under terms of the multi-year global agreement, GT Interactive
obtains exclusive interactive software rights to the Indy 500, Indy
Racing League, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indy Racing League teams
and drivers, for all PC and console platforms."

I'm no lawyer, but it could be that the wording of the agreement
between IMS and GTI is specific to IRL and open wheel type sims, and
that because N3 is using stock cars and simulating the BY400 and not
the Indy 500, there was a legal loophole for IMS to allow it's use for
N3.

Took a look at that link and finally found out how many will be able to
race via Internet....  *20*.  I've said it in a post just a couple days
ago, I never seen any info on the number of internet drivers but a few
people swore that 43 was the magic number. <g>

Probably not unrealistic at all.

There are some very talented people out there. I never thought we would
be able to run an N2 track in GPL either. Since there are converters
for N2 tracks to the other Papy formats, all someone has to do is
figure out how to convert them to N2 format.

Me too, 2 roadcourses just isn't enough. How about a GPL to N3
converter? Monza would be a blast!

There you go!  Calling Dave Noonan...............   I want to race Clark and
Hill at Indy!  Now; where can I get some of those nifty unequal-length
suspension arms so I can offset my tub?

says...

The claim by Papy is "20 or more" depending on the (servers) connection
to the net, the speed of the server CPU, and the general health of the
net at the time you are hosting.  The beta was reported to have a maximum
allowed online drivers set to 32.

As usual, we have to wait and see what is really practical (given the
different types of high-speed connections).
