GPL questions and thoughts

hiya,

I bought this game when it was released, never really played it (i'm a
flightsim nut),  4 - 5 laps every evening or so, then got a MSFF wheel from
my wife for xmas, played it some more, now with the new patch i'm putting
serious time into it, but i'm still far from being any good (1:31's at
monza). Some time ago some ppl were posting in this group about doing around
1:20 at monza and i was wondering how this was possible ? I know there is
plenty of room to shave off some time with me, i brake to early for the
parabolica (sp ??) for instance but it's not worth 10 seks !!

I was looking into the .ini files and there is alot of stuff like physics
etc etc. Do these settings have any effect on the player or only on the AI ?
What keeps ppl from cheating in online races if these settings do have an
effect on your car ?

I still need to see the 1:20 replay !!!! The guy who posted it, please do it
again and mail me the replay ?

Cheers

Relax.  NOBODY'S done a 1:20 at Monza.  The World record is a 1:26.8, done with
a low-rider setup in 1.0.  With the new ride height, times will be off that (by
a few tenths probably).  So your 1:31 is fine.  If you can get into the 28-29's
consistently you'll do quite well in most online races, and you'll find plenty
of drivers at your current speed level.  And no, the ini settings don't affect
the physics of your car or other human drivers.

Cheers,

Steve B.
