I rented Colin McRae Rally 3 for the PS2 tonight and I've been playing
it for the last couple of hours. I'm pretty impressed so far. The
physics are pretty good, although the cars seem to react to steering
inputs more quickly than they should. The graphics are nice and there is
a lot of attention to detail. For example:

* When it's raining, you can see drops on the windshield that get pushed
toward the top when you are moving. The wipers actually streak when they
are operating

* The tailpipe vibrates when the car is idling at the starting line

* In the replay, when it shows the "backseat" view looking out the
windshield, the driver's and navigator's bodies move correctly in
relation to the car's movement.

* When you lose your hood, the engine vibrates in the engine bay and the
degree of vibration is determined by the amount of throttle input.

* The damage modeling is excellent -- parts get crunched, fall off, etc.

* The flexible antennas on top of the car flop around and get bent
backward based on the vehicle speed

* The dust plume behind the car is amazingly realistic.

These are just a few of the things that I've noticed so far. These
things are small but it tells me that a lot of effort has gone into the
game.

There is one BIG problem however that really pisses me off -- in the
championship, you can only drive the Ford Focus. You can drive any car
if you are just running time trials but the Focus is the only one
available in championship mode. I think this is incredibly stupid and I
hope it is remedied in the PC version of the game.

Are you using the PS2 Dualshock gamepad or a wheel for control?
Also, have you tried out any of the various cheat codes to see if that will
open up other cars in championship mode?
