Cilin McRae Rally-massive deadzone on steering wheel

This game seems to suffer from the same horrible deadzone as TOCA, on
my wheel it is about 20-30 degrees!! I find it very difficult to
drive. I have the direct input DLL modded to give 2% deadzone but to
no avail. I also made sure I had wheel and not joystick selected in
the game.
I have a Digital Edge wheel.
