Could someone explain why after spending 1000 on a pc, my Sony PSX which
cost 60 can run F1 2000 so much better?

Um,

I'm guessing the sim runs well on PSX regardless of how much you spend on
your computer.

Just a guess.

LOL.

First of all, your version of F1 2000 is not the same as the one we all have
on the PC. It's even worse.  Secondly, a Playsation isn't a very
open-architecture system (like most of the consoles to date) and it's very
difficult to create any add-on or third-party files to enhance the product.
Patches are pretty much impossible to implement, while multiplayer is very
poor when it does exist via two PSX or split screen.  It's power is much
slower than any PC on the market currently (even the low-class PC's at the
moment) and creates almost VGA quality graphics on the screen, at
resolutions around 320x400.  It can't do any aliasing or filtering, creating
some apparent texture pixels.

You want to be asking Image Space Incorporated and EA Sports about that.
