Problems starting F1RS

by Andrew Carrol » Wed, 13 May 1998 04:00:00

I recently got a new hard drive, which led me to doing a clean install
of everything, including F1RS.
This time I did the full install (finally decent menu speed), but now
everytime I try to run the game I get a dialogue box saying it can't
find the module "Indeo VFW".
I've installed it from the F1RS CD and it's works the first time I play
the game, but if I restart my PC and try to play again I get the same
message.
I think that Indeo isn't installing properly, as it doesn't appear in
the Add/Remove programs applet.

Anyone have any ideas on what i should try ?

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew.I just got F1RS today and I can't even start it.I get a
module fault error in F1voo.But thats my problem. For your
problem,try this.Go into control panel/multimedia/advanced.You
will see audio and video codecs listed.Check the lists for the
codec that you are having trouble with.Be careful, but then delete
that codec or the version of the codec that is older then the one
on the F1rs cd.Reboot your system, then install the new codec.
Reboot again and then try it out.You really can't***up anything too bad if
you mess up.Just note which codec you deleted so you can recover it.Make a
backup copy of it or get it
off your recovery disk.I hope you have more luck than me. : -(

Life is a lot simpler than this! Just reinstall Indeo from the Indeo folder
on your F1RS CD!
