MICROSOFT FORCE FEEDBACK

I'm going to treat myself as its christmas and im gonna buy a steering
wheel-probably the MS FF, over here in britain its 150 and ive tried it on
display at a shop and it was really good, felt really smooth. Im worried
about whether the little gear changers under the wheel, like proper f1 cars,
are easy to reach when its twisting around like a mad thing, and also if
there are any other problems i should know about, is it ok for GPL as it has
no FF?

You can read a review on the steering wheel on
http://www.simracingnews.com/hardware/sidewinder/
When you have installed the software for the steering wheel you can set up
the force to work even when a game doesn't support it. More info can be
found in the review mentioned above ;)

Thanks.

The gearchangers work well, although occasionally it is hard to find gear
down (on the left for me) in a panic whilst on full opposite lock during a
half spin

It will work if FF is not supported, or with it switched off. You can't set
competitive lap times with FF on - the wheel just becomes too stiff. FF is
just for fun, that's all

You can configure the resistance of the wheel in three discrete steps,
the
smallest setting is real close to no resistance.

If you try ViperRacing, you'll probably not repeat your last sentence...

Hi Paul

Does the MS FF wheel has peddle
( those doggy ears on the left and right )
so that you could use them as accel and brakes.

I come across many wheel that do not have these
and that you MUST use footpedal.

I don't want a footpedal.

regards
Leong

I think that all FF wheels use pedals for gas and brake.  Thrustmaster
has the NASCAR Sprint (though it is not ForceFeedback) with paddles on
the back of the wheel for use as gas and brake.
