GPL and Glide 2.54 problem ??

by Matthew » Tue, 09 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I know there is a problem with glide 2.54 and GPL.
The "fix" I have seen was to copy an older version (pre 2.54) of
"glide2x.dll" into the GPL directory.  Well, I tried that, but now it never
saves my selection ofthe 3DFX card under options.  When I save and exit and
restart, the graphic option screen comes up with "None" as the accelerator.
Now, If I remove the "glide2x.dll" from  the gpl directory  I can select the
3DFX card but it locks up rock solid after a couple of minutes.  I ran this
game flawlessly for weeks on the older version of glide, I only upgraded for
a couple of other sims that needed it.

How do I get around this and get back to driving ??

Where can I get version 2.53 of glide? All the sites seem to have only the
latest drivers ??

I am using a monsterII3d.  I have the original install CD which is glide
2.50 (i think) ??

Also Direct x 6 is installed, but I don't think that is the problem.

TIA

Fixed my own problem.  I found the 2.53 ref drivers and copied the
"glide2x.dll" into the GPL and VOILA.

it worked.
