HELP ! MY GPL is broke!

Running a Diamond Viper 550 with the latest 255 drivers, DX 6.1, & beta 2
OGL patch.

Since I installed the latest Viper Drivers I can't run GPL in more than
640x480 without it giving me a GPF immediately I hit the green button to go
to the track.

Also when I did manage to get on the track the drivers arms are "twitching"
all over the place & car is hopping around when on the straights like it
never used to..this has happened since I reinstalled Win 98 - Using a Saitek
R4

Used to run in 1024x768 with no probs

Anyone got any ideas? Anyone had the same probs?
Anyone got GPL working at higher than 640x480 with either the Diamond 255
drivers or the Nvidia Detonator drivers...?

yours, unhappily confined to the pit lane...

I.

I believe the OGL beta2 patch will only work with nvidia'a TNT refernce
drivers, available at their website

I'm not sure about this, but you might need to reinstall GPL's two wdm
drivers after reinstalling Win98.  I believe there should be two .sys files
(papycpu.sys and papyjoy.sys) in GPL's home directory.  Copy them to your
c:\windows\system32\drivers directory.  There should also be a .reg file in
GPL's home directory (papycpu.reg).  Double click on this file to update
your registry.  Then reboot.  This may not solve the problem, but won't
hurt anything (this same procedure is done automatically when you install
GPL).

Do you have a good reason for running DX 6.1?  If not, you might want to
go back to 6.0.  (Upgrading DirectX is like flashing your motherboard's
BIOS: you do it when you need to, not just because there's a new version.)

I have an AGP CL TNT.  The Detonator drivers work fine, at all resolutions
from 512x384 to 1600x1200.  With the old 0.48 drivers, I had frequent
crashes above 640x480.

Try DX 6.0.  If that doesn't fix it, try the Detonator drivers.  If that
doesn't work, I'm stumped.

Thanks I'll give it a go - when I said I reinstalled I meant I really
reinstalled! Reformatted the drive & reloaded everything....but I'll give it
a go anyway...

Now if I remember rightly you can't just Overwrite DX , you have to purge it
from the system...anyone know how I do that?

I'll try the detonator drivers first I think......easier....

The GPF I'm getting is in Kernel32.dll BTW

thanks,

Are these drivers considered better than Diamonds?
