Rend v2x00 and ICR2

Hello, friends :)

Is there anyone out there who's been able to get the Rend ver of ICR2 to work
with a new Stealth II (Rend 2100) video board?

I have installed the game fresh (from the new CART Racing CD) -- it doesn't
work.  I have downloaded the beta patch from Bjorn's Rendition site - it
 doesn't help.  I tried renaming spdy3d.uc to spdy3d.uc2 -- no help.  All I get
is a message "No Rendition Verite 1000" and then a lockup, black screen with a
1-inch band of colored static across the top.

Apparently some have gotten it to work.... any help at all will be much
 appreciated.

Rend v2x00 and ICR2

Try this ....it works for me on the Indy2 Rend that came with my I3D:
I can start two different ways this way: try both if you can.
Don't know how  CART is.      Is there a Indyfast.bat? If so:
Edit the Indyfast.bat to look like this:

rem INDYFAST.BAT - Runs IndyCar II Rendition in DMA mode
rem DMA mode is faster than FIFO mode, but does not work on some machines
rem * Expects game executable INDYCAR.EXE in game directory
rem * Currently expects 9/10/96 version of SPD3D.UC
rem * ICR2's DOS4GW will not work if Quake's QDPMI is installed
c:
cd c:\INDY2
rem set SPEEDY3D=c:\INDY2
rem set SPEEDY3D_DMA=1
rem Only use this if your machine fails to recognize the correct amount of
rem memory installed on your board.  Set it to the number of megabytes.
rem set SPEEDY3D_MEMSIZE=4
rem Display Rendition logo
RR
if exist INDYCAR.DMP del INDYCAR.DMP
echo.
echo INDYFAST.BAT: Redirecting output to file 'INDYCAR.DMP'
echo.
INDYCAR2 > INDYCAR.DMP
mode co80
echo.

(Note:Mine is installed in C:\Indy2...If yours is different change those
lines to match your directory.)

Also in the directory put:
the Indycar2.exe from the patch
the SPD3D.uc from the patch in but call it SPD3D.uc2
also have the original SPD3D.uc that comes with the game there also (don't
rename it)
Right click on Indycar2.exe...choose properties...and check Msdos mode...
do the same with the Indyfast.bat

Now you should have two different ways to try to start the game. Hope one
of them works for you on your system!  I still get a band at the top at
startup but then it starts!
Both work the same on mine...only thing is the mirrors are not right and
the dash is not perfect but... Runs fine for now till a fix is found for
those problems.
Sorry if this got long but....didn't want to leave a question on any of the
steps.

Good luck and let us know if it works for you. (or anyone else) A
productive thread on this topic and getting Nascar2 to run under dos in
Rend is needed information lets start it!
We need more discussion on these fixes and also getting Nascar2 to run in
Rendition mode in Dos in this group. (can't get it to work for me)(just
under win95)

Again sorry for the length of this but if it helps its worth it!  :)

Rich

Rend v2x00 and ICR2

I forgot this. The following should be revised in the indysafe.bat file.
rem set SPEEDY3D=C:\ICR2
rem set SPEEDY3D_DMA=
Good luck.

> The following has worked for me with ICR2 for Rendition.
> Use the beta patch!  Backup your old spdy3d.uc file and rename spdy3d.uc2 (included
> in the patch)  to spdy3d.uc.
> Backup the indysafe.bat file. Edit the indysafe.bat file to change all occurrences
> of indycar (including the .dmp file) to indycar2. (indycar2.exe is included in the
> patch)
> Create a shortcut to indysafe.bat and run from Windows95.

> The game will run using the old spdy3d.uc file; however, the mirrors are garbage.

Rend v2x00 and ICR2

Hi Rich,

You've made a friend for life... using your detailed instructions, I got ICR2
to run in Rendition mode.  I am a pretty happy camper.  It is seamless with
all details on -- I was practicing at Bristol for an upcoming race and the
cars *** across the banking in front of me was awesome!  Everything is so
 much more, well, 3-dimensional!!

As far as any difference in the CART Racing box... it seems non-existent,
except that they've updated the front end screen to say "CART" and changed all
the filenames that used to be indy.* or indycar.* to cart.  Ergo indyfast.bat
becomes cartfast.bat, etc.  I just changed the name of Stefan's patch from
indycar.exe to cart.exe, and no problem.  I don't know how you figured out to
rem out those items in the bat file but it works, baby...

I said "pretty happy camper" cuz as you said, the mirrors and***pit are not
at all perfect.-- the mirrors are barely useable, although I may get used to
the weird look.  Right now, I'm dazzled by the graphics, but when I'm punted
out cuz I couldn't see in my mirrors properly, some of the enthusiasm may
fade. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer so thoroughly... it's
 definitely appreciated.

tking said <<Backup your old spdy3d.uc file and rename spdy3d.uc2 (included

My patch (filename icr2_v2k.zip) had only spdy3d.uc, no uc2... is there a
different patch?  I had crummy mirrors and you say the patch fixed this....
hm... where did your patch come from?

Rich had me leave the orig uc in there and put in the patch renamed as uc2....
I find it strange that it would be using both of these files.  Maybe Rich's
fix is still using the old one... just a thought.
