If you still have GP2, there was one made for it.  Pretty cool track.

Yes. It's been in development for some time (not by me though).

The problem, as I understand it, is that the cars pass the s/f line
twice on each lap and that one half of the s/f straight is, in terms of
a lap, 3-4 miles away. Setting the draw distance to 4 miles to see cars
and track on the otherside would cause a fps nightmare.

Good luck to them.

http://home1.swipnet.se/~w-14357/GPL/index.htm has a list of tracks in
progress.
96 apparently!

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Yes, there are two versions that I know of now in the works.
The first is a semi-historical version, designed to deliver the Monza
Banking Experience, and be very friendly for online racing. The second is a
full-on, high fidelity version.

But Thom, I =did= answer the question you asked<g>, which was:

The "fun" version is in beta test right now. I don't know a thing about the
status of the historical version, and I am unable to supply names of
authors for either. Software release dates? LOL! You should know better
than to ask...

Oh, here's one that might make you feel better: Le Mans Sarthe, the full 24
hour course, is underway, and the author is talking about having it
released before the real race this year, June 11-12. Screenshots, etc.
here:
        http://home.swipnet.se/~w-36707/sarthe/

There are several threads on this subject area in the GPL related forums at
www.legendscentral.com for many new tracks under development.

Here's a thread with some great shots of the real Monza banking:
        http://www.legendscentral.com/ubb/Forum29/HTML/000203.html

And here's a great site that catalogs all sorts of GPL add-ons, including
cars, tracks, patches, and utilities:

Enjoy!

IIRC it was out at http://www.grandprix2.com, in the tracks section & in
the "other" category.  Don't remember which page though...  Good luck.
