If there is anyone out there who wants to add that little bit extra to
their games (particularly those of us who already have the force
feedback wheel and the sub woofers and the prologic surround etc etc) -
then seriously consider getting an Aura Interactor Cushion.

These cushions contain a subwoofer type thing that rumbles in
conjunction with the sounds produced by your games.

Eg. You virtually get a massage in GPL (the low revs rumble is literally
spine tingling)
You can feel the fireworks exploding in the NFS 4 demo (I wondered what
the hell I was feeling at first until I noticed the explosions in the
sky). Note, you can also feel every other bass sound effect, but it was
the fireworks that caught me by surprise
You feel EVERYTHING in SCGT (particularly if you enhance the bass on the
sounds). Accidents are now bone jarring.
F1RS rumble strips - now I aim for them as the feeling is so unreal.

Viper Racing, Toca2, I-76, in fact almost every sim / game I have is
enhanced by this new toy. I won't get started on Half Life and Unreal
(not really appropriate in this newsgroup) - suffice to say that before
I used to jump a bit at times when enemies surprised me, now I almost
leap out of the seat

To put things in perspective, here is what I paid for some of my more
recent toys, compared to the value they have added to my ***
experience:

I spent $au350 on an MSFF Wheel (and felt it was worth up to $au450 for
the enhancement to racing games/sims). You folks in the US stop laughing
- I can't help it if our exchange rate is ridiculous.

I spent $au100 on a PC works sub woofer and satellites (to add on to my
prologic decoder and existing stereo) and felt they added a good $au200
worth of fun to ***

I spent $au50 on the Aura Interactor and it is worth well over $au100 of
fun.

So, if you are looking for a new toy and you think think that things
like sub woofers and FF wheels have added to your *** experience,
then  I heartily recommend the Aura.

For Australians, they are available from Jaycar Electronics for
$au49.95.

From looking at the picture, I doubt if you can lean back in your chair with
this thing on...

I've heard folks say that for racing sims, it's fairly effective to
drape it over the back of your desk chair.  I've ordered one, so I'll
be posting a full review soon!

The model I got is a cushion variety - rather than being a vest type
thing you have to wear (or drape over your chair). The cushion sits
nicely on the base of the chair leaning against the back (it forces
you forward a couple of inches but unless you have a small seat, huge
***or unadjustable chair, you should be OK). I looked at the vest
model and just couldn't see me putting one on - I feel silly enough
at times with all the gadgets*** of my PC.

The vest types sell here in AUstralia for $au39.95 (they were $29.95 but
went up I think).

If you do a search on Aura Interactor, you will find a lot of info and
reviews on these things - mostly positive. I think combat flight sim did
one fairly comprehensive review (I know I'm in rec.autos, but a review
is a review). Another site had heaps of info on transducers (the things
that make the rumble). A search on deja will yield some info on people
that have bought the vest and cracked it open so that they can bolt the
transducer directly to the chair (or frame of the sofa - if you want to
use it for movie watching).

If you want anymore info, let me know (but you'll have to search for any
URLs - just like I had to - as I didn't bookmark anything).
