Is there a way to get mirrors in the***pit? Though the two are different
games, GTL is my preference. LFS is better than rFactor, even despite the
fact that rFactor is moddable. LFS' physics are better and tire grip is way
superior.
Once LFS gets a move on things and allows track add-ons and such, rFactor
becomes a thing of the past for me, if it isn't already.

Never miss a chance to bash rFactor, do you? The thing that puzzles me is
why the hell did you buy it?

I bought rFactor because I like racing sims and that one intrigued me. I
don't think there's anything wrong with saying that I think GTL is the
better game (and so is GTR). There's too much confusion with rFactor and
all the flood of mods and "beta" tracks have diluted the worth of the game.
GTL, GTR (to a lesser extent) and LFS give me a much better feel of things
than rFactor.
I don't see anything wrong with saying that. You don't have to agree and I
never asked that you do.
As it now stands, I'm looking to sell rFactor (or trade, if someone wants to
give up a Guild Wars' account : ).
Alanb
Honestly, what did you expect? A game that's designed to be easy to mod is
guaranteed to produce this scenario. I can't possibly see how anyone could
think it wouldn't. The only areas where GTL/GTR really excel is in the
***pit graphics which are works of art obviously done by a top shelf
professional 3D artist. There's been plenty of lame/beta tracks for GPL
over the years but that doesn't make GPL a bad sim. I'm not sure that you
have a clear understanding of what rFactor is about or from where it's
evolved.
GTR/GTL (and LFS in some ways) are all currently more polished products than
rFactor but they're also much more stagnant.
Please. So one guy gets a default oval track from rFactor, plasters some
placards from another speedway (might have been from Nashville-- I can't
recall), and then calls the track something else based on those
adverti***ts.
This was to be expected? I guess.
Still, because you like rFactor and I have some issues with the game, I
happen to be wrong and you happen to be right. Since I like other sims
better than rFactor and rFactor is your baby, I don't have a clear
understand about the evolution of rFactor.
I like real replicas of cars and tracks and not clunkers that drive like
something I have never in my life driven.
But the real strength of rFactor was supposed to be its mods, and so far
I've seen nothing but a bunch of WIPs and betas and sloppiness. I've lost
faith in the modding community and prefer, as it is my right to prefer,
another sim.
Basic stuff. No need to get all huffy about it and say I'm wrong just
because you think you're right.
Another chapter closed.
Alanb
Alan, have you tried any of the mods? Before you sell it, if you haven't
tried the Porsche mod you should at least give it a shot. Also, before you
sell, take a Superkart around Mills Sprint for 20 laps and then make your
decision. The gfx aren't quite GTL level but the driving sensation is
fantastic!
I'm one of those who thinks we're just seeing the beginning of a long run
for rFactor. The numbers of online players have started to pick up too.
We're going to be getting scratch-built F1 tracks by CTDP along with a full
2005 F1 carset that looks phenomenal. For me, it's becoming a one stop shop
for all kinds of racing - which is exactly what I thought it would be.
-Marty
Can someone explain to me why some think the ability to create tracks is
suddenly a bad thing, and exclusive to rFactor?
A huge number of tracks, and many car mods, were created for F1C, N2003, and
GPL. Some were bad, some were good, and some were excellent. I don't
remember the auti sim world ending because people could make scratch tracks
and conversions. Everyone seemed happy to see new tracks. I bet Noonan made
some nice $$.
With rFactor, tracks can be made that are far better than those in previous
sims. I have had no problem whatsoever picking the good tracks. Trois, the
new AF-RF1, Brands Hatch, A1 Ring, Lime Rock, Birmingham, and Brazil are all
excellent.

You're right, I've got to have a go in one of those things some day!

Though I think your view is a little extreme, I do think rFactor would
be a lot better if the company itself decided to stamp various seals of
approval on mods, tracks, etc and linked to them from their site. This would
be great incentive for the modders to reach certain levels/standards and
make the entire process for customers much more painless.

What the heck does your preference of GTL or LFS over rFactor have to
do with this thread? Perhaps you are feeling a bit deprived that your
precious favorite sims are without a top-quality kart mod???

Simple comparison, my friend. Actually, LFS has a nice little kart-like
machine, which outdistances the rFactor mod by a mile. :)
Also, I didn't know the rules of this forum stated that you must not waver
from the discussed topic, even if just by a little. Too, there's no way to
say what is or isn't good unless you compare it to something else. So, I
could call you ugly, but if I don't have anything to compare your ugliness
to, then I don't know what you are. :)
I'll just call you ugly and move on. :)
