Porsche Carrera Supercup mod is out for rFactor

get it here http://www.racesimcentral.net/

At last some real cars in rFactor. The saloons have always disappointed
me in this sim - these feel more like race tuned cars to me after a
quick go.

Initial reaction is they feel about right in comparison to the GT
Legends Porsche - i.e. stiffer cars with race tyres. I like both!

Cheers

I gave it a quick spin (litterally) and it's absolutely amazing. Kudos to
the makers of  that excellent mod.

Just gave it a try...definitely the best tin top mod for rFactor so far.
The throttle does seem a bit touchy at low speeds though...

Raced this mod online last night with a few fellows, WOW! It was really
FUN. You must warm up the tires, else low speed corner exiting will
light them up quite easily.Very nice Mod indeed.

The frame rate goes to about 19 (from 70-80) after a few laps. Also the
timing display goes wrong (in the "monitor"). Where it should say the
times it says "PCC", and the driver names are screwed up.

There is a medium res skin pack here:

Which may help

The original skins are 2048x2048, so there is huge jump in the gpu
usage to display these. The medium ones are 1024x1024 and work quite
well, IMO.

Everybody's pc is creeping along (relatively) with this carset,
including the med res version. It's ironic, with all the whinging on
RSC about 'more fps, please!', along comes the PCC  mod which promptly
moves to the top of the online hit parade. What people really crave is
Quality, framerates be damned.

Well, perhaps to a point. Having a photoreal image is great, but at 5
fps it's not drivable. Even with the hi res set, once I turned down the
texture detail from full to high, I was back into the 30's. I then
switched to the med res set and I get 50's now, with high 30's at the
start, back of the grid. So I have very good quality and very
acceptable (for me) fps. You can run with lousy quality, but not with
lousy fps.

BTW....P4 3.0, 1024 400mhz DDR, Radeon x850 Pro 256mb

Anything below ~45fps is unplayable for me.  I can put up with lower at the
start of a race but after that it's hard to drive smoothly with a lower
frame rate.  The 2048x2048 textures are fine on my 256MB x850XT but I'm
guessing 128MB cards or cards with slow GPUs might struggle.

Hmm, something doesn't sound right there...you should be getting much better
performance with that rig..

outstanding mod for rfactor. I went back and played gtr with a porsche for
comparison, and it just looked poor by comparison graphically, and I used to
like the stock tracks in that game, but now they look so unphotorealistic by
comparison to rfactor tracks. Also, the physics in the mod feel more like
what I would expect the cars to feel like, albeit GTR physics are more
demanding.

Check out this hilarious thread:

GSMF's controversial decision to 'fudge' on the F:R weight distribution
has unleashed a veritable Katrina at RSC.It appears likely that this
Porsche will be headed back to the garage for a few adjustments. Stay
tuned.
