I would say that is essential. I got a Formula T2 steering wheel recently (which doesn't
have fingertip buttons) and I have had to revert back to automatics!!

Recommended F1GP steering/joystick?

I'm looking for recommendations on a good steering wheel for F1GP.

If possible I would like it to emulate the fingertip gear changers ie.
on the steering column or "firing buttons" on the wheel itself.

I also have to be able to purchase it by mail order.  No local dealers
stock such an item.

Thanks for your help.  Please send suggestions to...

For fingertip buttons use the C&H flight yoke and C&H pedals or use thrustmaster
rudder control pedals. I have converted from this to the T2 and now that I'm used to
the gearshift I've been setting new track records because of the quick wheel centering.

The Extreme Competition Controls' "Competition Driving System" has *4*
fingertip buttons positioned on neat extensions right above the 2 main
horizontal spokes: 2 buttons on each side. These can all be programmed
(as fire buttons A and B  on joysticks A and B) if the sim supports
it. So far I've only programmed games to use the 2 outermost buttons
on each side as shifters and one inner button for reverse on the
Papyrus games. They sit right where your thumb rests naturally when
you're holding the wheel. No need to take your hands of the wheel
whilst shifting those gears!!

The wheel itself is solid, 11" in diameter and covered in stitched
suede leather for that authentic racing feel! It looks the business in
front of your monitor! Centreing is notchless and the travel of the
wheel is utterly smooth. Worth every penny.

The TSW has 2 buttons for shifting plus a gear stick-shift.  Either one
can be used for shifting.
