N3: stupid newbie questions

It will depend on the type of tracks.  Generally speaking, you'll need
to apply the brake to get through the corners on a short track.  On a
superspeedway, like Talladega or Michigan, the only time you'll need
to brake is to avoid running into traffic in front of you.  One good
thing about N3 is that it comes with replays from the beta testers
(?).  Watch those replays and see how they approach the corner.  Watch
for the line, and the speed.  That will give you some ideas of how to
approach each track.

That's because some tires are warming faster than the rest, depending
on the setup.  Tires that warm up quicker will have the proper grip
faster than tires that takes awhile to warm up.  Generally, it takes
about couple of laps for all the tires to warm up to their proper
temperature.  Therefore, on those first few laps on a new set of
tires, you should take it easy and try not to drive the car too hard,
until all the tires are warmed up to their temperature.  If you change
something on your setup to fix the handling problem you have on the
first few laps, you'll run into problems once all tires are warmed up.

Jeroen,
First question is are you using a wheel, joystick or keyboard? A wheel is the
best way to go, but I know some awesome joystick racers. Keyboard racers are
generally a menace in the multiplayer games. There is simply not enough control.

The general rule is not never brake hard. When you brake hard, all the cars
weight goes to the front wheels and the car will push (won't turn). At most
tracks, get outta the gas early enough to get the car to the bottom in the
corner. Follow the *** buildup on the track for a starting point at hitting
the groove. Never jerk the wheel..always be smooth on your turns.

The ACE setups seem great in N3. I'm using those with very slight changes for
now with some success. The car turning to the left too much in the corner is
called loose. If using a wheel, make sure wheel is checked in your setup, not
joystick. This made me very loose. Also make sure your frame race is high
enough. ALT-F will display the framerate. If its too low, the car seems to be
loose. Turn off some graphics or upgrade video to help this. I would say you
need to be above 20 most of the time and never go below 10, even in traffic for
it to be playable. Also be very smooth on your turns into the corners.

Hope this helps...just remember...be smooth with gas, brake and wheel...
