Hey there guys,
Well, at this point I don't know if I am less happy about spinning and
busting up a bunch of cars or that I was so embarrased I just quit the race.
I knew better than to do that, I was even thinking about not doing it as we
came up to the green flag.  It didn't take much, as soon as the tires broke
traction I eased up and tried to recover but that wasn't going to happen.
Before I knew it my car was upside down going (flipping) down the track.
Hey, come to think of it, I sound like a professional pointy car driver, :)
LOL.  I felt like spinning on the first restart was pretty bad and bailed
before damaging anyone elses chances.
I am currently trying to just finish races with as few errors as
possible,  I would have to go back through this thread to be sure who but
one of the late stages dropouts stated it was because so few cars were left.
I think half the fun of racing is to have someone to race even if you do
fall out of the lead pack and cannot win.  I know for me it is more about
the competition than actually winning, though that would be nice. ;-)  I
would like to see guys like Eldred and anyone else that enjoys this game to
keep coming to the races and stay even after being damaged.   I need someone
to try and catch cause I need a lot more practice before I am going to
challenge any of the really good drivers.   Sorry Eldred.  Don't mean to say
your not good, just that you have stated your recent problems with wrecks
and therefore not being competitive.   I think it would even make the race
more interesting for the leaders if there were actually some good lapped
drivers out there for them to have to work/race around.
I keep going back and forth whether or not to keep racing because I do
not want to be a hinderence to the good drivers.  On the other hand I cannot
resist the competition against others in real time, knowing that *all* the
other drivers are serious about completing the race and not in how much
havoc they can cause.

As to the current issues being discussed,  I would say a 4pm est start time
is better for me while also would probably create a situation where I would
miss more of the events.
Damage should be set to moderate untill they can fix the damage model to be
more realistic.  I get flipped constantly (does not happen often in real
races) and still have a drivable car many times with little damage(also does
not happen in real races). If this groups intent was to acrue points and
award a winner at the end of the season I could see the point of realistic
damage.  For a bunch of guys/girls that just want to race each other in an
almost realistic environment, I think moderate would make it more enjoyable
for all.

Damn, I talk too much....heh :)

Don't worry about the spinning on the restart. If I remember correctly, the
last couple of times we ran that track there were plenty of guys spinning
and causing accidents on restarts. Slippery track.

Bah, fixed means broken!  You know the other thing you guys could do, if
nobody likes the fast setup, is get somebody to work up a better one in
advance, and set that as the fixed setup.

Depends on what day and time it will be.

I thought moving the race up to 6 pm on saturdays would improve my
attendance, but so far I haven't been able to do one race yet because
something is always happening. And that's probably a good thing :)

Our big problem is that we're trying to please too many people.
There's a nine hour time-gap between us (CET vs. PST) and seeing that peolpe
won't sacrifice their sunsdays we're left with two options...   Race on
saturdays or split the group into two "divisions"... One for Europe and one
for America.

says...

That won't work either. That would reduice the already slim
attendance to almost nil for both races.

No problem, Sean.  At least in GPL, I can be competitive in my leagues.  In
N2k3, I'm not.  The last two races I ran were Talladega(got in a wreck,
damaged, top speed 140) and California(self-spun in T3, got nailed, damaged).
So I decided to sit out a couple of races.  As it happened, two league races
conflicted with RASCAR, so I chose them instead.  My COBRHA league runs at
noon, so I'll miss those weeks in RASCAR anyway...
I'll run at Pocono - it's my birthday, so maybe that will bring me some
luck.<g>

I did it twice the last time :)

That's why I start in third there now when running the fixed setup.
