Maybe he needs a 'hot water cooler'...?  George Carlin fans will get that
one.<g>

That sucks...

Most people didn't want to change.  The worry was that with lessened damage,
people wouldn't be as cautious...

Well my day started pretty good - but ended kinda dull...

I had done a few laps of practice, both online and offline, so I knew
expect.  I should point out that the setup felt much much looser online than
it did offline - atleast for me.

I qualed 3rd and kept posistion until Ginger and Larry pitted under [the
first?] yellow - some 12 laps into the race.  I wanted to stay upfront as
long as possible as I knew restarts would be very dangerous here, so when
they pitted I got the lead.
Ginger *juuuuuuuust* beat me out of the pits after "the big one" and denoted
me to second some 30-35 laps into the race.

I opted to stay behind him and not pass for the lead as I wanted to ensure
he would'nt get me on tire wear.  Unfortunatly I sort of screwed up and Neil
passed me for 2nd....   but what was even worse was that I dropped a little
behind him and lost the draft - forcing me to rpush harder in the corners to
minimize the loss I had down the straights. I was just a few seconds behind
them all the time but I had to push like hell just to keep up and this
ultimately killed my tires.

I pitted under green together with Neil - hoping to close up on him during
the stop and thus get back into the draft..  Sadly, that didnt happend as we
exited with the same gap separating us...  Ginger, who was still leading,
then had a disco and Neil inherited the led - while I was just 2-3 seconds
behind.   I was trying to push a bit to close the gap, but that didnt amount
to much so I was forced to just keep up as best I could.

Then with about 15-18 laps to go I managed to put the damn thing in the wall
after giving Ginger - who was 3-4 laps - room to get passed me.   At that
point I was so damn frustrated and bored that all I could say was "Thank you
and good night!"  [I should point out that this was not directed at anyone
'cept myself - in case Ginger or anyone took this as directed towards them].
The low number of starters,  all the whining and most of all - so few cars
at the end - made me feel so sad - that I just, more or less, gave up.

I'm probably going to take a break from RASCAR now.  The low turnout, bad
start-time and lack of a patch to deal with the bugs and issues in NR2003,
just makes me wonder why I should sit inside on a perfectly good evening.

RASCAR runs fixed setup races.  But with any setup I can't change that has this problem starting and restarts in a lower gear always
helped me.  I havent ran the Dover Fast setup, but the Bristol one and a few others come to mind.  2nd gear worked fine for those.

I really think the start time is having an effect on turnout. I know I've
missed a number of races already this season because of it, while last year
I only missed one or two.

I agree.
Even though I was the one asking for the earlier start time - I can now see
that the new time cause problems - even for myself.  If we only could race
on a different weekday....  Sundays would be ideal - but then peole would
problably be forced to miss the real stuff on TV or at the track.  The way
things are now it's only us europeans that have to forsake our saturday
evenings (read: nights..)

I would atleast be in favour of moving the race time back to 20:00CET - or
21:00 CET  if possible - if I'm going to ruin my evening I might aswell try
and get something out of the day...

I've been planning/wishing upon setting up a seperate Euro-race during week
nights - but I dunno how people would take to that.. ?

It seems to me that the euro guys wanted it earlier in the day, and
that's why we changed.

favour of moving the race time back to 20:00CET - or

that would increase the chances of me joining, if the missus allows me to
nerd on a saturday night that is :)

I'd be all for that. It's sooo much easier to sneak away on a regular
evening than on a saturday.

I was driving pretty much a cinder block at that point, so I'm suprised the
air disturbance didn't flip you up in the air like a tornado :)

Sorry bout that :)

Not with fixed setups.

Fixed means fixed.  Only the steering ratio can be changed.

Spinning cars do weird and frustrating things at this track.  Especially if
you are the one behind them :)

You see the spin start, but at that point anything you would normally do to
avoid the spinning car inevitably gets you into trouble.

Spinning cars here seem to enter a period of suspended animation.  Right in
the middle of the damned track.  Just when you think they are going to drift
up in the spin, they hang in the middle.  So then you start low, and then
the spinning car hooks and goes low.

No matter what direction you commit to, it seems to be wrong in the end.
Believe me, I had lots of practice at it this race and I don't think I
missed a single spinning car !

I hope my bad luck is out of the way.  I was starting to feel like John
there :)  The last two races I put in a minimum of 10 hours practice each
for, and had every bit as good a chance at winning as anyone else in the
alien catagory.  I just never got very far :(

Honestly, I wish we would until we see what is fixed up in the patch...

Saturday is definitely the best day, but an adjustment in the time as
proposed would probably help.

That's what made me drop out of the races for a while.  I kept guessing
wrong... :-(

10 hours of practice each?  Maybe that's why I can't drive - I don't have that
kind of time.  Well that, and the fact I don't have any *talent*, either...<g>
