Its only a month, back to April, that can't exactly mean huge problems, just
another week or too to make sure the product IS finished this time.

The whole deal about the 'as-less-info-as-possible' strategy was to
prevent Crammond from being stressed & Microprose being the laughing
stock of the *** industry.

So if that's 100 true, I'd say a couple of blokes at Microprose should
be kicked out of the building THIS day....It's a ***y joke -- here we
go again!

Cheers,

Bart

Why would anybody be surprised ?  Guys it's MICROPROSE/HASBRO.  They push
back dates all the time.  Anybody remember the over-hyped Gp2 ? Or
MechWarrior 2 ?

We should all think "Gp3 will be released some day.  When it will be, then
good for us.  Meanwhile, all the fake hype they are doing isn't worth
nothing.  Keep our expectations low".

Because if we accept and bow to the game producers, we will loose. They will
continue to do so, creating fake hype.  See : LeMans arcade game, and about
half a dozen titles in 1999.  And now Gp3.

I hear his priority is developing new and existing tracks for GPL and
whatever's left is split between family, leisure time and GP3, his
priorities seem to be in place ;-)

Hopefully the delay is to implement multiplay.......if not who cares.

I have a lot of respect for Geoff and I think Gp2 and gp1 were 2
really great games but don't you think he's a little slow? Or he works
on this at spare time and has another job?

Your willing to discard the sim that although not many believe it, will be
the best sim we've gotten out of a sim-maker?
Hell, Im sick of getting replies about "GPL is the best, go to hell", but at
teh risk of getting another one, IMHO and only thousands maybe millions
others who I only wish would visit this NG once in a while GP2 still is the
greatest sim ever.

Yes, the sim is slow, it only seems like this because for teh past few years
a numer of dumbass's have realeased fake dates and everything at a timwe
when it wasn't even know GP3 would exist by anyone outshide Microprose. The
only "real" delay is the month its pushed back from March to April which 90%
of games have done to them, all others are a load of BS to be quite honest.

Do any of you know what it takes to get a secure online *** network? It
takes huge efforts.

Ubi Soft, have put massive work into Game Service and have been working for
months on GS3. And its one of the best and most secure servers I've played
on, no lag either if you pick your nearest arena, but instead of people
flooding to use ones like this in exisance, people *** becuase more people
don't waste their time in developing a massive network and months of
programming work only to have a crowd of 10 at uthmost peak time! Why should
they bother?

For such a great thing VROC is, I wouldn't know!?!!
All I can say is that I have a bad impression of it.
Every talks about invisible cars and lag, lag and more lag and followed by
Discos everywhere.
And any time I turn up, I am always there alone. No community or anything
there, just nobody!

GPL has, hands down, the most friendly and most
helpful online racing community that has ever
existed.  I'm always amazed at how quick GPL
people respond to requests for help on driving,
or hardware configurations, or anything else.

Hell, I'm sick of all the bashing that the
GPL community gets.  When has any GPL driver
ever said "go to hell"?  It hasn't happened.

clip

You haven't spent enough time with it then.

You are going at the wrong time, then.  The
average number of people either driving or
chatting on VROC is about 70.  Right now, at
10:30 AM central time US, there are 67 people
on VROC.  I've seen the total go over 100
several times.

These numbers don't compare to TEN and NROS,
but the atmosphere is completely different in
term of sharing setups and information.  In
NROS, everything was a secret.

The reason why the Game Service is empty is because it trully stinks and
it's one of the worst online *** service ever done.  The lag is
incredible and faked in a way that makes people think the cars don't warp.
Actually they don't, since most of the time the cars you see on the track
are not at all where the real human should be.  Instead the poor
input/output handling by the servers for the data  creates the "stop&go"
effect that made everybody mad.  That is the reason why people don't care.
When the cars are not synchro with others, instead of entering in a
"prediction code" mode, the car will go from it's speed to zero in less than
a second, then catch up the time it lost in another second.  So it brakes
and accelerates at speeds impossible to mankind, with the driver probably
dead because of the extreme G's he suffered ;)

Last time I was on VROC, I saw 75people in the arena.  I think you obviously
have no idea of what your talking about.  And on the N3 beta there was
300people at the same time Saturday night.

I'm not GPL bashing. Every time I szay something that is not praising GPL, I
am accused of this, I like GPL too, but not in an Over the top way.

I beg to differ but I'm not getting into that right now.....

Mabe thats true...... but an empty arena at peak time hardly makes me want
to spend more time.

Does that mean I ahve to up at 4am to get a race online?
