It's about halfway between NFS4 and GPL, in that it has:
1. outstanding graphics
2. really communicates the feeling of speed to the player
3. has semi-realistic car physics & sounds
4. can do limited setups and save/recall them, similar to TOCA2 in
complexity
5. damage model is good in some ways, poor in others
6. it is simply a blast to drive, and takes quite a bit of practice to
really learn how to get the most out of rallying, out of this sim, and
out of a particular car.
7. supports a3d, ss, eax sound
8. can be modified quite extensively, ala N1/2/3/ICR2/GPL
9. it is simply a blast to drive
and
10. it is simply a blast to drive.

enough said?

Well, right now I absolutely cannot get my wheel set up so that the brakes
work.  I've tried every possible configuration in CONTROL PANEL and also within
the game.  2 axis, 3 axis, it doesn't matter.  If this problem isn't fixed in a
patch, then I'll never play it because you don't want to race the rally with no
brakes!!!

I have a TM Charger.

I think it's absolutely great. But your question cannot be answered. Maybe
you think it's crap. The feelings about this game are very mixed. So if
possible, try the full game before you buy it. Don't judge it on the demo,
though: that's a example of bad promotion. The full game is better.

You can start fights with questions like that!!   ;-)   I've had it about 2
weeks and love it. I wouldn't call it a sim but some would argue with me.
There are quite a number of issues with this game some of which are due to
be patched soon. Anyway I'd say if you love driving games then buy it. Don't
expect too much and stick with it long enough to get used to the feel (very
different from GPL) and you 'll enjoy it. As for longevity, I'd give it 2 or
3 months. Check out the RC forum on High Gear's site for some varied and at
times heated discussion.
Cheers, Andrew.

I am not sure how to classify this game, but it is definitely fun.
When people come into our office to look at our Force RS Wheel and
Force RS Shifter, this is the game that I use.  We get most of our
games for freem, but I would pay for this one.
Plus, this game has full RS Shifter support.  There is nothing like
dropping from 5 to 2 going into a turn!!!

To each his own.....

FYI, GraDee, there is no version of NFSx currently on my system.
Driving sims that are there, in order of my own personal enjoyment:

1. GPL
2. RC2K
3. DTR
4. SCGT
4. N3
5. NL
6. TOCA2

Recently retired from the HDD:

7. RC (the first one, 1995 I think)
8. N2
9. ICR2
10. SODA
11. CPR

Sorry you aren't more enthusiastic about RC2K.   :)
