Have you (or anyone else) seen Accolade's Cyclemania? It hasn't arrived here
yet, but I read a review that suggested it was a pretty great sim.

Alternative opinions? Personal experience?

And I just read an review about Cyclemania where it got 65 of 100, not
exactly "great".  Short summary: Nice graphics and decent sound, works
also on slower computers, but the game is too simple and controls are
inadequate.

No personal experience, just alternative review catched...

It's a bit off-topic (rec.AUTOS.simulators) but:
I have seen the full version on the PC-Expo here in Vienna
several weeks ago, and I have a demo (One track, one lap) on a CD
(from the German PC-Player magazine) -> many Megabytes -> sorry, no upload.

It's a simple video of the road (obviously taken from a
car - no banking horizon in turns :-(
And the sprite of your bike is just copied on top of that. It wanders around from
one side to the other, as you are steering. No simulation at all.
'Primitive' arcade, similar to 'Lotus Esprit turbo challenge', etc.

The video looks great from a double speed CDrom drive on a 486/66.
(But UGLY on my 486/33 with single speed CDrom drive.)
That's it.

I have had the game for about 3 weeks and must say that the 65 of 100 scoring
is pretty accurate.

SOme of the graphics (scenery) are really well done.  Other graphics (motorcycles, other cars) look really cheap.

The most disappointing feature is that it is an arcade type game (you
control the rider in front).  It would be much better if the perspective
was that of actually being on the bike.  Countersterring would be a
nice touch also.

Hi, i played a demo of cyclemania on a uk cover-rom.  It played ok, but was
no more than (super) hang-on with beefed up graphics.  The game has two
graphics levels, full screen (which is blocky), and a mini-screen in the
middle of the screen with a track map outside it which is very sharp, but
difficult to play cos the sprites are soooo small.  All in all, i felt it
was a nice enough GAME, but i wouldnt buy it!
