Help: N2002 and Aureal Vortex2 sound problems

by Wingm » Fri, 01 Feb 2002 16:52:14

I have a turtle beach Montego (vortex2) sound card, duron 800, Geforce2 Pro,
and Win2000.  The game demo runs fine, but there is no engine sound in the
game.  I can hear the tire squeal and impact sounds, but no engine sound.  I've
played with the sound settings in the core.ini to no avail.  Please help!

BTW, there's no problem whatsoever with Grand Prix Legends...

Thanks...

drivers are you running, the 2559 I presume, can you run any of the A3D
demos?
I got sound back by setting the number of sounds to the minimum

In Options, disable the 3d sound.  That should do it!

whoa, guys!

are you running a via chipset?  if so just get the latest 4in1 drivers
latest aureal that r out there,,,, having a montego is nice cause turtle
beach still supports to an extent,,,, mine's an oem v2 and the pci latency
patch by george breese.

i've got all that stuff, and running a3d with all sounds.  it's much
better, to me anyhow, than without a3d.

of course, i've heard that different setups have diff probs, but i don't
believe in it ;), hehe.

fwiw,  800duron (to a gig when i think i need it)  kt7raid, vortex2 oem
au8830,
herc kyro

Yeah, well, I have the lastest 4in1 with my Abit KT7 and the vortex drivers for
win2000....  Enabling or disabling 3dsound does not help with getting the
engine sounds... :(

have you checked out at vortex of sound?

http://www.vortexofsound.com/start.htm

i hope i didn't sound snotty or anything as i went for weeks when i first
upgraded not knowing whether i was going to fart or go blind. but after
hours (i've not much of a life) it all worked out...... so far!

the one thing i have figured out..... there are a lot of problems for a lot
of different folk and i'm feeling fortunate enough right now to do nothing
else with my system until i get a santa cruz or something......

are you using those wdm drivers for 2000?  i heard of a lot of problems with
them.

ANNNNdddddd........ that george breese pci latency patch...... that sent a
lot of my problems packing on its own.

here's another vortex faq page
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/chris.day/vortex.html

if you've already weeped and gnashed yr teeth and made sure yr not in pci
slot 1 and done all this happy crappy and i'm just repeating.....

well,  dang that sux.  i hope some of this helps.
