Gents, I get a screen-freeze, temporarily, every time the spotter says
something for the first time. After that, no problems, so after my first
"car high", for example, I won't have a problem with that particular
sentence, but will with a 'new' one.
 Any idea what I should change?

You could try turning off the streaming of spotter audio by editing your
game's APP.INI as follows:

[SPCC]
EnableStreaming=0

You could try changing in your app.ini in the NR2002 directory

[SPCC]
EnableStreaming=0

to turn off the spotter's streaming, so it won't load each wave file
off disk at the moment the game goes to use it.

If you disable this, where does the game keep the wav's then while they're
waiting to be reused? In memory? And if so, for how long? Or will it just
not load them under certain circumstances?

Wow, is there an echo in here? :-)
Thanks, both of you!

Even though my freezes didn't occur when the spotter spoke, I tried the
change that Eric and Grant recommended and it looks like my 2-3 second
screen freezes have stopped. The spotter now sounds fuzzy, and I still get
an occasional freeze for a fraction of a second, but it shouldn't be
anything that will affect my driving. All this time I thought it had
something to do with ram.
