F1RS questions

1)  Did F1RS come with a printed manual?  I have the full version, but don't
know if I just lost the manual, or if there never was one :)
2)  On the Controls setup, for Force Feedback, there is a slider bar
(left-right).  I assumed this is for the intensity of the FF, but can't
really tell the difference between settings (and can't find the manual (see
#1 above))
3) I downloaded a "sound patch", and executed it, but can't really tell if
it was applied.  The engine sound seems a bit strange to me, getting on and
off of the gas the tone does not have a smooth transition.  The sound patch
didn't seem to make any difference.  Is there a way to see the version
number in F1RS?

Thanks for your response.

1) depends. The game itself came with a manual, but if you got it packaged
with a LWFF or a 3D card or somesuch then there's no manual. The manual can
be downloaded from www.f1rs.com

2) it does control the intensity of the FF. I find setting it to around 75%
gives me the best feel for the car. Do you have the centering spring for
your wheel turned off?

3) I use a sound patch from www.the-unofficial.com which I think is pretty
good, but does produce some odd results if I stab at the throttle (something
one shouldn't do, but anyway ;-)), so maybe that's more to do with the game
than the actual sample?

It came with a printed manual, but it may well have been defective. They had
a bad print job. To remedy this they posted a complete online manual at the
Ubi site, which was still there last time I looked.

Yep, that what it's for. Whether it will work or not with your setup is
another story.

F1RS had lousy, buggy sound. They issued a patch. It had lousy buggy sound.
So they released MGPRS2. It had lousy buggy sound. They issued a patch. It
had lousy buggy sound.

Are you sensing a trend here? I never did get F1RS sound sorted. On the
third install of the RS2 sound patch there is suddenly an improvement.
Persistence pays off? Third time is the charm? I havn't a clue. All I can
say is, patch and patch again. Maybe someday it will surprise you and
"take."

Sound issues are a stated priority in future versions of F1RS, me, I'm
betting on lousy buggy sound. :)

F1RS was released with some hardware (a wheel I think), that version didnt
have a printed manual so Ubi posted an electronic version on the net.

I looked at www.the-unofficial.com for sound patches.  Though I found the
page with F1RS downloadable sounds, I'm not sure which to download, what to
do with it once it was downloaded.  What do you recommend?

Hmmm, the one I use, Peugeot V10, doesn't seem to be there anymore (long
time since I DL'd it, page was still at previous URL).

I assume you downloaded the Renault one... there's instructions on the
author's homepage, plus a link to a sound editor you need to patch sounds in
F1RS/MGPRS2.
