F1RS Questions ...

by Gary Vrckovn » Tue, 31 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I just bought F1RS on Friday and have been playing with it over the
weekend.  What a great game!  Runs really smoothly on my PPRO 200
system with a Pure3D 3DFX board and 64 MB RAM.  The graphics are
outstanding.

  Couple of quick questions though:

1.  Is there any way to edit Driver X and replace it with J. Villeneuve?

2.  How can I tell which version I'm using ie. 1.00 or 1.08?  I downloaded
the 1.08 patch and ran it and things appear to work ok, but how can I
confirm the version?  I can't find an "About" option anywhere.

3.  When I first installed the game, a controller setup screen appeared.
I'd like to change things around a bit now that I've played a little,
but can't seem to find this screen anymore.  How do I reconfigure the
    controller?

4.  How does the multiplayer mode work?  Does it run on the Internet with
    Kali?  How are the framerates?

  Thanks very much in advance,

Gary.

Yes there is a converter on www.f1racingsim.com.

About the only way is from the date & file size of the executable.

I believe this is on the OPTIONS screen at the bottom of the window.

Gary,

You should try pointing your browser at http://www.f1racingsim.com
This is probably the best site on the net for anything regarding F1 Racing
Simulation. There is also an editor for the driver names, horse power
settings etc.
Give it a try.

Type ver while you are driving to see the version #.

Yep, at www.f1racingsim.com there is a name editor, and a patch that
will simply put Villeneuve's name in the game.

Dunno, apparently you can type 'ver' while racing or something, never
tried it myself though.

Go to config in the bottom left corner of the menu screen. Everything
can be changed from there.

It runs ok over Kali, but I've found a lot of warping. Still it's the
best we've got. You'll tend to find everything goes to pot when racing
against humans, and you'll start crashing loads, or at least I did :)
Pleasure :)
