This is my first post to ras but I have read in the last 2 hours the
majority of the 1500 postings and my mind is numb. I have a few
questions regarding Nascar 99 that I hope some of you could answer for
me. I am just now after Christmas getting a new cpu to replace my
48sucks and I have the original Nascar Racing so I am asking some
questions based on this game rather than Nascar 2 which I have never
played.

1. How is the AI? Do cars follow the leader or can they pass in this
version?

2. TALLADEGA- Can the cars draft and get into big packs. Can they
consistantly run 2 and sometimes 3 wide?

3. Do cpu cars sometimes crash each other? Examples would be appreciated
here

4. If you bump a cpu car do they automatically wreck ala N1 or can they
save it?

5. Can you run the truck tracks with the Nascars and vice versa? Like
the Trucks at Dega or Cup at Flemington or Topeka? If u can how  do the
Trucks run at Dega? Very interested in this

Thanks in advance

Starts at some tracks are a bit bunched... but overall the racing AI is
much better than N1 or N2.  They get after each other, and YOU.

Haven't spent a lot of time at Tally with N99 yet.  However, what little
I did, they seem to mix it up pretty good. Some 2 wide for sure. I'm
sure there will be AI Guru's that will make even better AI for almost
all tracks over the next few months. I know for sure they will at Las
Vegas.  I've been the bologna in "sandwich" going into Turn 1 more times
than I can remember!  What a hoot!  The new AI will try you low, try you
high... they flat get with it.

Yes.  They will even have mulitple car incidents.  Often times the start
of the wreck is caused by a "blowout" or the car "getting loose"... but
one N99 user has already reported that he saw one AI driver pinch
another off going into a curve, and started a wreck.

Depending one where the "Nascar love tap" gets placed!  Straight from
behind: Seldom lose it.  On the quarter panel: Can go either way.
Sometimes they save, most often they don't.

You know, I haven't even tried this yet.  I think you can though,
hopefully someone else will chime in here and give you a definitive
answer.

I looked for this and the apparent answer is "no", you can't run truck or GN
tracks with the Nascars.  If someone knows how to do this, please post.

Sure you can. But you can't mix the trucks and cars together on the same track.
I am running a 15 race season with the trucks at Atlanta, Las Vegas, USA, Indy,
etc.,...

You can run ANY series on ANY track.  Just pick your Season Calendar then
pick your Entry List.  It's that easy...  I LOVE running BGN at Portland
(where I watch the Fast Fridays during the Summer)!!

The trucks at Dega are AWESOME!!!!

Lap speeds are around 175 (I think) but it is really fun. And yes, you can
also run Cup cars at any CTS track.

Yes, try Flemington with 39 WC Cars, really interesting. Trucks at
Dega, yup but they are slow (171-172 avg is real good). On the plus
you race in a big pack of trucks!!!!! I'm sure there are faster setups
for the trucks at Dega but I haven't found any. The 171 or so is with
no tire squeal, they are not very aerodynamic so drafting makes a
big difference in speed.

Yep, just add it to your calendar, and make sure there are the .stg and .st1 files
in the directory...

Cheers!

Yes, you can.

Running trucks at Taladega is a _different_ experience :)
